Business Analyst
What it is
The Business Analyst at 9amHealth is a pivotal role that goes beyond traditional data crunching. In this position, you will transform raw data into engaging, interactive dashboards and strategic insights that drive internal decisions, optimize member enrollment and engagement, and deliver powerful, customer-facing reports. A key part of this role is to coordinate, define, and create outcome reports with strong, data-driven messages for our customers, ensuring clarity and impact. You will be comfortable analyzing clinical data and driving insights from health outcomes data, collaborating closely with the Head of Clinical. Additionally, you'll work with Customer Success, Marketing, and our Data & Backend Engineering teams to develop state-of-the-art reporting infrastructure, identify key performance metrics, and tailor messaging strategies that resonate with diverse member cohorts.
What you’ll do
Bring Data to Life:
Design and maintain dynamic dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Looker and Excel, turning complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.
Utilize Mixpanel to track user behavior and product performance, providing critical insights to inform decision-making.
Support data governance by identifying and reconciling discrepancies between reporting sources and systems, and conducting periodic audits to improve data quality.
Use advanced SQL skills to extract, manipulate, and analyze data, uncovering trends that fuel strategic initiatives.
Identify, design, and document data decisions, definitions, models, and procedures related to reporting solutions.
Strategic Consultation & KPI Management:
Serve as a key partner to Customer Success, Clinical Operations and Marketing by developing and maintaining a comprehensive KPI portfolio
Ensure data availability, quality, and consistency across platforms to support business intelligence and strategic planning.
Lead Critical Data Initiatives:
Initiate and lead data projects that improve insights and reporting capabilities, ensuring the business addresses immediate challenges while implementing solutions that support long-term growth and adaptability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze the right member segments for various campaigns, translating business needs into actionable strategies
Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate insights effectively to internal teams and external clients, ensuring data drives real-world impact and strengthens customer relationships.
What you’ll need
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years in data analysis with a proven, impactful portfolio - ideally within high-growth health tech or in a related fast paced environment
Technical Skills:
Mastery of dashboarding tools (specifically Tableau and/or Looker) and spreadsheet applications (Excel, Google Sheets)
Familiarity with event-based analytics platforms, particularly Mixpanel
Advanced understanding of database structures, query optimization, and ETL development
Advanced SQL proficiency
A plus: experience with AWS Infrastructure, including AWS Glue
Project & Communication Skills:
Strong project management and self-directed prioritization skills
Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences at all organizational levels
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines and functions

Our working model is flexible for certain positions, with some employees working remotely and others based in the office. However, we value candidates who can be based in our San Diego office.
