Reporting to the Director of Risk Stratification Operations, the Quality Assurance Documentation Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining all policy, procedure, and work instruction documents to reflect Risk Stratification operating policies and procedures and Coding and Billing references guides to enable consistent performance and outcomes.  This role works to revise, refine, and/or create the required documentation that is made available within the department as reference publications, and communicate any changes to stakeholders.

Primary Duties:
  • Develop documents to help maintain an effective set of policies, procedures, and work instructions (consistent with CMS guidelines).
  • Support Creation and Maintain Risk adjustment / Clinical Documentation Curriculum ( consistent with CMS guidelines).
  • Support the introduction of department policies to impacted departments
  • Interface with management and stakeholders to determine appropriate documentation required for operations and risk.
  • Perform research and review documents to identify gaps in documentation and Lead development of documentation requirements for new and/or changing business processes.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of documentation and recommend improvement opportunities to management.
  • Remain current on CMS guidance, update documents to reflect CMS changes in a timely manner and apply CMS references to documents where applicable.
  • Prepare for distribution a policy update, brief, or manual, as well as the procedures by which to introduce such changes.
  • Create and Maintain a Documentation Library for Risk Stratification  Operations and Education / Clinical.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • University or college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of creating and managing SOP, Enterprise education and Reference documents while having to align with compliance guidelines.
  • Experience with business writing including publishing, and expertise in documenting business policies and processes.
  • Experience with Risk adjustment and CMS regulation related to Coding and Documentation accuracy guidelines.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Experience with Google Suite
  • Experience communicating effectively, verbally, and in writing, with employees at all levels of an organization.
  • Experience in working directly or indirectly with operations/customer service teams.
  • Project management experience is an asset.


Preferred Key Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of how to source and research CMS regulatory requirements
  • Ability to take complex or multi-stepped procedures and prepare in a simple, clear, and easily digested format.
  • Ability to anticipate potential situations or questions at every level of the company in response to a new policy or procedure.
  • Ability to manage updates/revisions to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Time management/ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Able to work as a team member, as well as independently.
  • Able to handle highly confidential/sensitive information.


Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel up to 10 - 25% of the time
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard.
