Summary of Role & Key Responsibilities

The Sustainable Products, Packaging and Circularity (SPP&C) Business Line exists to empower clients to make their contribution to sustainable production and consumption. The North America Business Line Lead will harness an entrepreneurial spirit and depth of knowledge on SPP&C related services including:
  • Circular Revenue Models: design and implement circular revenue models like resale or subscription, that deliver measurable bottom-line value for the business and planet.
  • Lifecycle Assessment: use the tools of Lifecycle Assessment to identify, prioritize, and act on opportunities to improve their sustainable performance.
  • Sustainable Packaging: understand and improve the sustainability of packaging across lifecycle and impact areas while maintaining or improving technical performance.
  • Sustainable Products and Chemistry: understand and improve the sustainability of products across lifecycle and impact areas, while maintaining or improving technical and business performance. Develop and implement leading chemical management programs and RSLs, identifying substances to phase out and develop substitution strategies.
  • Resource Recovery & Waste: Optimize the recovery of end-of-life materials for constructive use, establish and achieve waste reduction and diversion goals.
The key to success in this role is prior, demonstrable experience in successfully building and growing a business in this area, demonstrated by KPI achievement including sales, revenue, chargeability and headcount growth. Equally important are your accomplishments in developing and driving new and impactful services around sustainable products, packaging and circularity. As the North America Business Line Lead, you will have responsibility to drive the strategic direction, growth, and profitability of our Sustainable Products, Packaging & Circularity Business Line within the Region. You are expected to look for Business Line growth opportunities in excess of the financial plan. Knowledge of key drivers for more sustainable products, packaging and circularity, and services to address those services is critical.

In addition, you will develop the Business Line strategy working with the SPP&C Global Business Line Lead and the Chief Advisory Officer. You will oversee and support business development and work-winning for the Business Line at the Regional level and develop and implement initiatives that align with the overall Advisory Community business strategy. You will lead a diverse and dispersed team.

It is expected that the North America Business Line Lead ensures that a client centric, quality driven ethos is embedded in the Business Line. This includes coordinating efforts to further build our client offerings, as reflected in the service lines, and working with the Service Line, Regional Business Line and other Regional Leaders to develop go-to-market strategies for such offerings. It is also critical to success in the role that you will constantly be looking at cross-selling opportunities both within the Advisory Community, as well as those extending to the Digital, Carbon and Purpose Communities, with particular focus on being a sponsor of sales of Anthesis’ digital products. 

The North America Business Line Lead is also expected to support strategic recruitment for the Business Line and to ensure there is a robust succession plan in place for all key positions, working in conjunction with the Regional Service Line Leads, and operational support as part of the succession planning process.

Key Responsibilities:
 
Main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: 
  • Developing and communicating a clear vision and strategy for the Business Line within Region as well as the business plan for Sustainable Products, Packaging & Circularity, and associated service lines, working closely with the Global Business Line Lead: Sustainable Products, Packaging & Circularity, Regional Service Line Leads and other key stakeholders in Anthesis, including the Chief Advisory Officer. 
  • Leading the Business Line within Region to ensure that the budget, and subsequent forecasts, are achieved (at a minimum), and that financial upsides, for both revenue and profitability, are constantly sought.  
  • Growing and managing the Business Line (capacity and capability) in close collaboration with the Business Line operational support, with the objective of delivering client projects as profitably as possible, whilst ensuring that Anthesis’ Quality Assurance standards are always met. This includes looking for financial upsides by delivering work in lower cost jurisdictions. 
  • Driving innovation and impact within the business line by identifying market and industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs. In collaboration with the Global Business Line Lead, Region Service Line Leads and operational support for the Business Line, develop and refine the service offerings within the Business Line. 
  • Pursuing service opportunities for both new and existing clients. 
  • Actively seeking cross-selling opportunities across the Anthesis Activation Communities, including driving sales of our digital products and carbon offsets.
  • Participating in and actively contributing to Advisory leadership team meetings and town halls, including (but not limited to) weekly secured work, pipeline and resourcing meetings, monthly financial review meetings where the Business Line Lead is expected to present the results, ahead of submission to Group, and explain why performance differs from budget (forecast when applicable) and actions being taken to address under-performance or further leverage over-performance.  
  • Providing strategic external and internal education, thought leadership and collaboration to support and advance Anthesis’ growth strategy of being the Sustainability Activator. 
  • Working closely with our enabling functions to build the framework of support needed for the Business Line in the region to drive performance.
  • Leading and inspiring a global team of professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Providing mentorship, coaching and development opportunities for team members.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your line manager or the company.
