Astronomer designed Astro, a modern data orchestration platform, powered by Apache Airflow™. Astro enables companies to place Apache Airflow at the core of their data operations, providing ease of use, scalability, and enterprise-grade security, to ensure the reliable delivery of mission-critical data pipelines.

We’re a globally-distributed and rapidly growing venture-backed team of learners, innovators and collaborators. Our mission is to build an Enterprise-grade product that makes it easy for data teams at Fortune 500’s and startups alike to adopt Apache Airflow. As a member of our team, you will be at the forefront of the industry as we strive to deliver the world's data.

Your background may be unconventional; as long as you have the essential qualifications, we encourage you to apply. While having "bonus" qualifications makes for a strong candidate, Astronomer values diverse experiences. Many of us at Astronomer haven't followed traditional career paths, and we welcome it if yours hasn't either.

About this role:

We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to join our team and help shape the future of Astronomer's product portfolio. You’ll play a key role in crafting seamless and intuitive user experiences, designing thoughtful interfaces, and creating a cohesive design language across our platform. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to turn complex problems into beautiful, simple, and functional designs.

What you get to do:

  • Work closely with product managers and engineers to conceptualize, design, and deliver user-centric features for our cloud platform.

  • Conduct user research, gather insights, and apply feedback to improve the product experience.

  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that effectively communicate design ideas and product flows.

  • Create high-fidelity designs and ensure consistency across all design elements and user interactions.

  • Collaborate in an agile environment to ensure the timely delivery of design work and its seamless integration with development efforts.

  • Define and evolve the design system, ensuring a cohesive visual and interaction experience across the platform.

  • Partner with the product and marketing teams to align user experience with product positioning and business goals.

  • Advocate for design thinking and contribute to a culture of experimentation, iteration, and learning.

What you bring to the role:

  • 3+ years of experience in product design, with a portfolio showcasing your work on SaaS or cloud-based products.

  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and how to design for complex software products, especially in the data or developer tool space.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.

  • Experience with creating and maintaining design systems.

  • Knowledge of user research methods and experience translating research into impactful product designs.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to drive design solutions in a fast-paced, iterative product cycle.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with data visualization tools, developer-centric platforms, or workflow orchestration (e.g., Apache Airflow).

If you’re excited to help shape the future of data orchestration and design impactful experiences for data engineers and teams, we’d love to hear from you!

The estimated salary for this role ranges from $180,000 - $200,000, along with an equity component. This range is merely an estimate, and the width of the range reflects willingness to consider candidates with broad prior seniority. Actual compensation may deviate from this range based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
