About the role
We are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking associate director to join Avalere Health’s specialist market access consultancy capability, Policy Access, Value and Evidence (PAVE). This is a project leadership, sales and delivery role within the PAVE Global Patient Access Strategy & Commercialization (GPASC) practice and is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a mid-sized consultancy.
This role includes selling and delivering patient access consultancy solutions to meet the current and emerging needs of pharma/ biotech global market access teams. The associate director will report into the service offering lead within the GPASC Practice and will be expected to demonstrate versatility to design, lead and deliver a range of first in class new-style projects. This role is hands on selling, leading and content project delivery, responsible and accountable for the highest levels of strategic thinking, commercial acumen and client advisor partnership. The GPASC team is transformational and requires a robust understanding of recent changes in the global market access environment to guide clients through the new ways of working now required over and above traditional national market access preparedness.
What you'll do
Duties will include developing, selling and hands-on delivery of de-novo brand and above brand patient access strategy consultancy to optimize the speed and quality of sustained patient access global/ regional market access clients achieve. Project types include early phase health system impact mapping, cross-functional early phase patient access launch excellence frameworks, negotiation excellence training, facilitation of new ways of access working and post launch access deep dives. In addition, responsibilities include cross-functional working with colleagues on holistic value, brand and above brand strategy, value propositions and belief-shifting payer toolkits. Many projects will include integral payer insight and strategy methodologies such as conducting payer depth interviews/ payer advisory boards and facilitating strategy discovery and managing working groups with client cross-functional teams.
The successful candidate will need first and foremost to demonstrate a deep understanding of global market access archetypes, the changing external payer environment, and the evolution of multi-stakeholder drivers of value in nationally reimbursed and non-reimbursed markets. In addition, the successful candidate will have a keen understanding of client cross-functional ways of working (market access, HEOR, pricing, policy and advocacy, medical, commercial) in the process of achieving fast and sustained access until loss of exclusivity. The role requires extensive experience of a strategy consultancy approach to solving client business challenges, working with senior clients in partnership to define priorities, design bespoke solutions and navigate implementing change across a cross-functional matrix.
About you
Minimum 8+ years of experience in specialist market access consultancy or global/regional affiliate-facing pharmaceutical market access roles with a proven track record in a range of market access landscaping and pricing & reimbursement projects across nationally reimbursed and non-reimbursed markets.
Depth of experience of interpreting complex clinical and health economic data sets, critical appraisal in the light of payer evidence requirements and creating compelling payer messaging
Development and facilitation of client workshops, including negotiation excellence training.
Deep understanding of breadth of payer value drivers and payer decision making processes at national and regional level from extensive engagement with payers through primary research and/or directly payer-facing customer roles
Curiosity to innovate and lead transformation at this time of great change in the sector.
Creative flair for cutting through technical complexity to develop high impact “snackable” visual content that will drive payer behavioural change.
Experience of gathering payer insight through depth interviews and advisory board facilitation
Deep understanding of the challenges and best practice ways of working pharma/ biotech global market access teams navigate pre-launch and up to loss of exclusivity to ensure payer beliefs are shifted to drive fully enabled patient access.
Experience and gravitas to engage in a consultancy relationship with senior global market access clients and lead projects to successful outcome on time and on budget.
High resilience and sense of urgency to juggle multiple priorities and mange high levels of client responsiveness.
