Where in the world? The role is based in Amsterdam, with a hybrid work model.
Working hours? For this role, you will operate within Central European Time (CET)

This is a key role for a proactive and results-oriented privacy and technology legal professional to join our expanding global legal team. You will be responsible for ensuring all our services and products meet data protection expectations and comply with applicable laws and regulations. You will be the go-to person for data protection and privacy matters, working with customers and Bird teams across the US, APAC, LATAM and EMEA.
We're looking for someone with a hustle mentality: someone who's willing to roll up their sleeves, clear blockers, think creatively, prioritize effectively, and support the business to get the job done.
This role reports to the Data & Security Officer.
What you’ll do:
Collaborate with the legal team on data privacy and security aspects of contracts.
Develop expertise in global data protection laws and advise on strategic implications.
Lead privacy and security assessments for the benefit of customers and partners.
Champion data protection compliance initiatives and maintain accurate internal records.
Continuously improve our data protection awareness program and support colleagues.
Respond to inquiries from stakeholders and authorities on privacy matters.
Embrace emerging challenges in the data protection and technology landscape.
What you’ll bring:
A law degree followed by a minimum of 2+ years of data privacy experience, ideally in an in-house technology environment or internationally-focused law firm.
A strong understanding of GDPR and working knowledge of additional international privacy regimes (US/LATAM/APAC) is a plus.
Sharp legal mind with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk mitigation.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for clear and concise legal advice.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
CIPP/US, CIPP/A, or CIPP/E certification is a valued asset.
