Job Description

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Engineering and Construction organization, reporting to our Director – Fiber Engineering and Construction.  The Senior Manager will develop strategy and process to support centralized operation functions; such as pole management, facility locating, right of way, contractor management, damage case management, inventory & tools reconciliation, system development, process automation and training across the Brightspeed footprint.   

The principal purpose is to manage support functions performed centrally, drive process optimization and efficiency, and provide internal customer service support for all underlying Engineering and Construction front line managers. This role will lead transformational change within Engineering and Construction to improve build tools and efficiency. This role requires strong business acumen, the abilities to define and implement groundbreaking ideas, to lead diverse teams, to work within a fast-moving environment to rapidly deliver support and services that have a broad business impact, and desire to have an industry wide impact.

As Senior Manager Engineering and Construction you will have the following responsibilities: 

  • Support a diverse workforce that drives centralized construction and network related functions. 

  • Program management for various Engineering and Construction centralized functions – i.e., pole management, facility locating, right of way management, contractor performance management and invoicing, damage case management, Enterprise provision facility extensions, network rearrangements, etc.  

  • Initiates process improvement and develops operational & network improvement techniques 

  • Provide technical system support for Engineering and Construction applications.  

  • Provide critical data to drive ongoing operational and financial performance improvement. Uses data and analytics to understand the return on investment, capital optimization, and supporting service metric root cause analysis. 

  • Drive the company culture and strategies. Creates strategies to achieve business goals such as increasing revenues, optimizing expenses, and developing a skilled, motivated, satisfied, and diverse workforce. 

  • Leads by example in creating an environment that encourages open communication, sharing ideas and best practices, and building strong cross-functional relationships.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • 7+ years Telecommunication experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical work experience in fiber engineering and construction  
  • Prior industry experience in facility engineering and network deployments  
  • Prior industry experience in managing infrastructure service providers  
  • Experience with IT systems requirements & development, agile processes, end to end testing. 
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction based systems such as; IQGeo, Sitetracker, Bidmaster, NJUNS, etc. 
  • Program/Project Management experience 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to successfully interact with cross functional teams 
  • Process improvement and customer-centric mindset 
  • Ability to motivate others and work under pressure 
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills 
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to articulate via written and through oral communication 

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Telecommunications
  • Telecom/Cable/Internet Service Provider industry experience
