The Accounting and Financial Operations team at Chainalysis is focused on building the appropriate accounting rigor and infrastructure while simultaneously maturing and transforming back office operations. As Director of Revenue Accounting and Process, you'll be responsible for revenue recognition, revenue accounting processes and systems, and credit and collections. You'll seek to simplify, automate and enhance our current practices by securing quick wins while also creating a path to invest for the future. You'll understand how to scale the department in line with the business, and are excited to work at a rapidly evolving, mission driven organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced business partner for sales, revenue operations, deal desk, legal, finance, professional services, executives and others. They will have a plethora of experience reviewing and structuring complex deals to solve for positive business outcomes in line with revenue recognition guidelines.
In this role, you'll:
Guide, manage, and mentor the revenue and credit and collections teams
Simplify the revenue accounting process and systems to account for revenue and deferred revenue in a simpler fashion and increase forecast visibility
Enhance the structure and visibility of the credit and collections processes
Review and approve customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards
Collaborate with legal, deal desk, sales, revenue operations, professional services and other stakeholders to structure contracts and approve non standard deal terms
Take a leading role in the monthly financial close, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions, review of reconciliations, and completion of relevant processes
Lead, influence, and drive results in ongoing quote-to-cash, sales commission and revenue business initiatives, including process improvements, and system implementations to optimize global revenue operations.
Be the Finance organization's subject matter expert on revenue recognition and ASC 606
Lead special revenue projects including the implementation of new systems, new accounting standards, and new go to market strategies
Seek to streamline and automate our revenue recognition processes
Liaise with external auditors, present significant item updates and supporting documentation for the audit
Develop and enhance processes and controls around credit and collections
Optimize the quote to cash process alongside other relevant leaders and assist with the implementation of any necessary tools, including a PSA tool
We're looking for candidates who have:
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP principles and financial statements, including ASC 606
The ability to review complex contracts and interpret their impact on revenue recognition
Excellent leadership skills and experience in directing and managing a team
Experience building and improving processes within Quote to Cash
Polished communication and collaboration skills, strong ability to listen and influence
Flexible to meet changing priorities and the ability to prioritize workload to achieve results
Technologies we use (no prior experience necessary)
Preferred systems skills in NetSuite, Floqast, Salesforce, and Tesorio among others
Strong command of Google Suite products

We set standard base salary ranges for all roles based on function, level, and location, benchmarked against technology companies. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, and other factors, consistent with applicable law. The salary range for this position is dependent on where you live within the United States. Chainalysis maintains two pay zones: Zone 1 includes team members in the New York City metro area and team members in the San Francisco Bay Area. Zone 2 encompasses all other parts of the United States. The salary ranges are:
Zone 1: $161K -$230K- $299K
Zone 2: $141K-$202K-$262K
Base salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes equity, performance bonus or commissions for eligible roles, and competitive benefits. This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship
