As a Major Gift Associate at Cornell University Library, you'll be at the forefront of our development efforts, providing essential support in fundraising initiatives. Your work will directly impact the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts that drive our mission forward. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Development, playing a key role in managing donor relations, drafting high-quality proposals, and coordinating fundraising activities that drive philanthropic support for the Library’s most critical priorities during the "To Do the Greatest Good" campaign. The ideal candidate will thrive on a small team, have great attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit. Providing general development support to the Director of Development to advance fundraising goals with an emphasis on both major gift and annual fund-level philanthropy Writing and editing high-quality development materials for a variety of audiences and purposes, including proposals, donor visit briefings, stewardship reports, donor communications, membership and annual fund appeals, and timely donor acknowledgments Coordinating portfolio workflow for Director of Development, including working collaboratively to document, initiate, and track strategies and actions for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Providing support for Advisory Council management and events meetings, and occasional donor visits to campus Conducting prospect research as needed, including working to hone prospect lists to assist with discovery outreach Overseeing weekly project management of stewardship tasks for monetary gifts as well as gifts of artwork Performing accurate data entry and retrieval Providing limited administrative support to the Director of Development as needed The desired candidate must have: A bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively. The ability to work independently with personal initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to research, evaluate, and synthesize information effectively. A well-organized and detail-oriented approach, capable of prioritizing multiple assignments for timely completion. A demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, and inclusion. Discretion and strong judgment when handling highly sensitive and confidential information. Proficiency in computer software applications, databases, and networked informational systems.
