About Crux

Crux is a sustainable finance technology company changing the way clean energy and decarbonization projects are financed in the U.S. The company’s first offering is the ecosystem for buyers, sellers, and intermediaries to transact and manage transferable tax credits. Crux is co-founded by Alfred Johnson and Allen Kramer, who previously founded and exited a successful marketplace software company, Mobilize. Rob Parker serves as Chief Commercial Officer and brings 20+ years of experience in the power industry, most recently serving as CFO at REV Renewables. Since its launch in 2023, Crux has raised $27 million in funding from venture capital and strategic investors and built a world-class team that merges expertise from energy, finance, government, and technology to power the clean energy transition.

Who we’re looking for

We are adding a Partnerships Lead to rapidly scale our relationships with channel and other business partners. This role will report to Crux CEO, Alfred Johnson.

Together, we are building a company where we:

  • Care for each other: We are a team where people support each other - in their growth, in their work, and towards this shared mission.

  • Build and improve rapidly: We optimize for pace of learning, iteration, and growth. Nobody will move faster than us.

  • Focus unremittingly on the needs of those financing the energy transition: Nothing we do matters if we do not add value to everyone who works tirelessly to finance the energy transition.

  • Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product.

  • Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We expect everyone on the team to actively help us build a team where people of all backgrounds can thrive.

What you’ll do

  • Lead our channel partner strategy – building a robust network of referral partnerships and other relationships that generate qualified leads.

  • Establish credibility and cultivate, close, and expand partnerships with key senior leaders at channel partners, including: trade associations, law firms, ESG consulting firms, insurance brokerage firms, investment banking & advisory firms, and other related technology companies. Develop a systematic strategy and process for forging partnerships.

  • Work with the formal ‘Alliances’ function of key partners, such as tax advisory firms.

  • Prioritize which partners to pursue, bringing in partners through conferences, networking, outreach, and other creative methods, often working closely with the Growth and Business Development teams.

  • Collaborate with the Growth team to host webinars and events and ensure Crux is represented on events hosted by others. Represent Crux at conferences and other public events.

  • Identify new ways for Crux to be more central to sustainable project finance to inform the introduction of new and complementary products

  • Educate partners on the critical role of the Crux ecosystem in tax credit transactions and demonstrate how to use Crux to achieve better outcomes (better realized prices, finding new counterparties, less admin burden, etc).

Expectations

  • Build strong relationships with high-leverage channel partners to encourage them to join the Crux ecosystem.

  • Inform product development with user insights and subject matter expertise. Specifically, identify opportunities for channel partners to become marketplace participants and software users.

  • Quickly and creatively identify the highest potential partnership structures with a wide range of different partners.

  • Understand Crux platform, sales process, transaction flow, pricing, and commercial agreements.

  • Know how to manage complex partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders and bring them to successful close.

  • Operate with autonomy, quickly surface issues, research, propose and execute solutions.

  • Discuss complicated topics with clarity and accuracy.

  • Demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration and teamwork.

Who you are

  • 7+ years of experience in partnerships, sales, and/or clean energy.

  • Deep enterprise sales experience and/or partnerships experience, with strong relationships in finance + clean energy.

  • You build trust quickly and communicate clearly.

  • Ability to understand business objectives from diverse stakeholders and scope specific solutions.

  • Forward thinking orientation. You can see opportunities others don’t see.

  • Adaptable and excited about building at the early stage. You’re not afraid to roll-up your sleeves and build things yourself.

  • Love figuring out the answer to a new challenge.

  • Highest ethical standards.

  • Contribute to and help build team culture.

What we offer

  • Estimated all-in cash compensation of $200-225k
