What you will do
Leading a team of 4+ Product Managers for our self-service Payroll product targeted at the US and Canadian markets. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including strategic planning, team leadership, market analysis, product lifecycle management, and deep subject matter expertise. Below are the key responsibilities for the role:
Strategic Vision and Leadership: Define and communicate the strategic vision for the payroll product, ensuring alignment with the broader company goals. Lead and inspire the team of Product Managers to innovate and execute effectively.
Market Analysis and Insights: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to understand the needs of the US and Canadian markets, including regulatory requirements, customer needs, and competitive landscape. Use these insights to guide product strategy and development.
Product Roadmap Development: Develop and maintain a product roadmap that balances market demands, technological advancements, and internal capabilities. Prioritize features and initiatives based on strategic alignment and ROI.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and Finance teams to ensure product goals are aligned with organizational objectives and capabilities.Facilitate communication across teams to ensure smooth product development and launch processes.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with customers, partners, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure the product meets market needs and expectations. Use feedback to inform product improvements and innovations.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the payroll product complies with all relevant regulations and standards in the US and Canadian markets, including tax laws, employment laws, and data privacy regulations. Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust the product roadmap as needed.
Performance Metrics and KPIs: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product, including user adoption, customer satisfaction, revenue targets, and market share. Use data to make informed decisions about product strategy and improvements.
Team Development and Mentorship: Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the product management team. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities to Product Managers, encouraging innovation, accountability, and high performance.
Deep Subject Matter Expertise: Possess and continually develop deep subject matter expertise in payroll for the US and/or Canadian markets. Leverage this expertise to inform product development, ensure compliance, and provide strategic guidance to the team and stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
Performed as a Group Product Manager or equivalent for at least 2 years in a fast-paced environment (ideally scale up/start-up)
Experience building and managing a team of PMs distributed across a wide range of complex topics in different regions
Strong knowledge of the US and Canadian markets
Strong experience with Payroll products
Independent and autonomous leader
Driven, collaborative, strong multitask
