What you will do:
The Senior Designer is responsible for designing creative work that successfully translates loose brand guidelines into a wide range of deliverables such as (not limited to) print and digital design, large event and tradeshow activations, visual campaigns, photo and video productions, publications, website graphics, social media campaigns, direct mail, identity/logo creation, marketing collateral, online display advertising, email marketing, newsletters (print and electronic), and brand work.
This position will conceptualize ideas, participate in brainstorming sessions, provide inspiration to creative projects and manage quality control including monitoring final project production and verifying deadlines are being met on time, within budget, and maintaining the highest standards.
- Create error-free, compelling design work across various digital and printed mediums based on creative briefs or project specifications. Execute projects with tight deadlines, producing a variety of deliverables per project, ensuring high quality and attention to detail.
- Develop innovative and engaging concepts, graphics, and visuals that effectively communicate compelling stories. Utilize advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, including video editing and animation, to produce diverse and dynamic content.
- Ensure consistent and disciplined execution of brand standards in all project work, maintaining brand continuity and integrity from project to project.
- Participate in creative kick-off meetings, providing strategic advice to internal clients on the best design approaches to achieve their objectives. Clearly articulate and present design concepts and ideas with confidence and clarity.
- Stay current with design trends, tools, and industry best practices. Conduct thorough research on comparable projects to inform design decisions and recommend cutting-edge solutions.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including securing quotes, selecting vendors, and tracking progress to meet project deadlines. Ensure quality control and maintain effective communication throughout the production process.
- Track and monitor project progress to ensure deadlines are met, making necessary adjustments to stay on schedule. Efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Help maintain the creative design file library, ensuring files are organized, accessible, and up-to-date. Implement efficient file management processes across the department.
- Collaborate closely with team members, other departments, and stakeholders to deliver cohesive and effective design solutions. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging open communication and creative brainstorming.
- Provide constructive feedback during design reviews, contributing to the improvement of overall design quality. Actively participate in design critiques and seek feedback from peers to refine and enhance design work.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development, staying updated with new design techniques, tools, and technologies. Attend workshops, webinars, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Ensure that all design work is visually appealing, on-brand, and aligned with company guidelines and standards. Maintain a keen eye for detail, color, typography, and overall composition.
- assist in the development and implementation of creative strategies to enhance the company's visual identity and brand presence. Contribute to the creation of brand guidelines and design systems.
- Support campaigns and initiatives by creating visually compelling assets for websites, social media, email marketing, and other digital platforms. Tailor designs to target specific audiences and achieve marketing goals.
- Take the lead on special design projects, from conceptualization to execution, ensuring they meet high standards of creativity and effectiveness. Adapt designs based on feedback and changing project requirements.
- Maintain a positive attitude and proactive approach to problem-solving, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Embrace challenges and seek innovative solutions to design problems.
- May perform other duties as directed by the Marketing & Communications team, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the department.
- This job will have periodic access to confidential data including company records and/or minutes, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.
How you will grab our attention:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Adobe Creative Suite Mastery: Demonstrated expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite - video editing and animation skills are a plus. Proficient in programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, Acrobat, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Figma.
- Canva Knowledge: Expert knowledge of and experience designing and organizing in Canva or willingness to quickly learn.
- Google Suite Proficiency: Mastery of Google Suite products, notably Google Slides, to design and create compelling presentations.
- CSS and HTML Knowledge: Working knowledge of CSS and HTML a plus.
- Print Production Knowledge: Expert knowledge of document preflighting and the print production process.
- Photo and Video Editing Expertise: Proven expertise in photo and video editing.
- Social Media Graphics: Experience with social media graphic production, template creation, and resizing graphics for different platforms.
- Digital Content Skills: Proven digital content skills with experience creating digital assets for a variety of target audiences.
- Current Design Best Practices: Strong knowledge of current digital design best practices and web production techniques.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of digital design projects, including branding, websites, social media campaigns, and performance marketing, with a demonstrated eye for typography and spacing.
- Design Principles Mastery: Mastery of design principles including color theory, composition, layout principles, and typography. Skilled at creating optimized graphics files for digital, social media, packaging, and print.
- Trend Interpretation: Ability to interpret current trends, competition, and culture, and apply this knowledge with a keen eye for shaping aesthetics and detail.
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate design concepts to stakeholders and gather feedback.
- Collaboration and Team Spirit: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders. Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Adaptability and Time Management: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
