Job Description
Experian is actively seeking a skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced agile environment. As a key contributor, you will focus on developing and delivering innovative, direct-to-customer products on a cloud-native Java platform leveraging AWS. In this highly technical and influential role, you will lead multiple projects and work with a team of talented developers, incorporating advanced technologies such as GraphQL and Kafka.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement new product features using Java, AWS cloud technologies, GraphQL for building APIs, and Kafka for handling real-time data streams, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Architect robust solutions and frameworks that support a cloud-native approach, leveraging AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, along with GraphQL and Kafka.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in code quality, security, and maintainability across the development team.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to define clear deliverables and timelines.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure that the software development lifecycle adheres to agile methodologies.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability while ensuring data security and compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications
- At least 5-7 years of experience in software development, with a deep understanding of Java and experience deploying applications on AWS.
- Proven experience in leading software development projects and teams in an agile environment.
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and architecture: Possess hands-on experience with GraphQL, Kafka, Spring Boot, and developing reactive applications, demonstrating proficiency in creating robust, scalable cloud-based solutions.
- Proficiency in developing microservices, RESTful APIs, and real-time data processing solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
- Efficiently manage Gradle dependencies and JDKs: Optimize Gradle builds, ensure compatibility across various JDKs, and mentor the team on best practices for dependency management and JDK usage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive experience building systems for financial services or tightly regulated businesses.
- Mass-market retail online consumer product experience
- Security and privacy compliance (GPDR, CCPA, ISO 27001, PCI, HIPAA, etc.) experience a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay range for this position is listed above. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and education. This position is also eligible for a variable pay opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health, life and disability insurance, generous paid time off including paid parental and family care leave, an employee stock purchase plan and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
