The Opportunity
Salesforce is the backbone of 90% of Flock’s operations, seamlessly supporting processes from presales through postsales. It serves as a critical platform for teams across Sales, Account Management, Support, Implementation, and Installation. As Flock continues to scale, so has our need for more sophisticated solutions, maintenance, complex integrations, and customizations—driving the necessity for adding another dedicated Senior Salesforce Developer to help lead this evolution.
The Senior Salesforce Developer will design and implement scalable, high-performance solutions tailored to support Flock's growth, with a specific focus on enhancing and optimizing our Field Operations SFDC implementation. They will lead efforts to optimize Salesforce processes, tackle complex integrations with external systems, and support the design and enhancement of the overall system architecture. Beyond technical expertise, this individual will mentor team members, share best practices, and foster a collaborative culture that empowers the entire Salesforce team.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Optimize Solutions: Design, build, and implement scalable Salesforce solutions, including triggers, apex, and Lightning Web Components.
Complex Integrations: Lead the development and management of integrations between Salesforce and external systems
Architecture and Design: Collaborate with stakeholders, Salesforce Leads and Flock’s Salesforce Product Managers to design and enhance the overall Salesforce architecture, ensuring it meets both current and future business needs.
Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior developers and administrators, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team.
Best Practices: Establish and enforce Salesforce development best practices, including version control, testing, and deployment processes.
Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for Salesforce-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
The Skillset
Experience: 5+ years of development experience, including Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and integrations (e.g., REST/SOAP APIs).
Integration Expertise: Proven experience in developing complex integrations between Salesforce and external systems using REST and SOAP APIs, API endpoints, Composite API, and middleware solutions.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, including governor limits, data modeling, and security principles.
Problem Solving: Ability to tackle complex technical challenges and deliver effective solutions under tight deadlines.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Certifications: Salesforce Platform Developer I or Platform Developer II are highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Scaling Large Organizations: Proven expertise in optimizing and scaling Salesforce for large, complex organizations, including the management of extensive data models and implementation of indexing, skinny tables, Event Monitoring, query optimization and batch processing to enhance performance. Skilled in navigating Salesforce governor limits, ensuring efficient processing of large data volumes while maintaining system reliability.
DevOps: Experience with CI/CD tools for Salesforce (e.g., Gearset, Github, DevCenter, Jenkins).
Salesforce Field Service: Hands-on experience configuring and managing highly customized and complex implementations of Salesforce Field Service to support operational teams.
AWS Experience: Experience integrating Salesforce with Redshift and AWS EventBridge, and developing Node.js apps or Lambda functions to offload and optimize Salesforce workloads.

90 Days at Flock

The First 30 Days
Onboarding: Complete all onboarding activities and start to familiarize yourself with the Flock Salesforce Environment from Declarative to Programmatic configurations. Will also be assisting in minor development as you start to spread your wings.
The First 60 Days
Ownership of Flock Field Operations Salesforce Platform: Take full ownership of the Field Operations Salesforce platform, including a thorough review and understanding of the existing expansive codebase. Identify areas for improvement, optimization, and best practices in code management.
Primary Point of Contact for Integrations: Act as the main point of contact for collaboration with Mobile and Fleet / Planner engineering teams on integrations, ensuring seamless data flow and communication between systems. Facilitate discussions to address integration challenges and promote effective solutions.
90 Days & Beyond
Management of Distribution Orders, Work Orders and Maintenance Cases: Oversee the lifecycle of Distribution Orders and Maintenance Work Orders within the Salesforce platform. Develop and implement strategies to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance user experience.
Engagement in Key Projects and Roadmap Development: Take ownership of 2 key Field Operations projects and tier 2 escalations, ensuring they are resolved within SLA. Actively contribute to the development of the project roadmap by participating in sprint planning and grooming sessions, aligning development efforts with business objectives.

The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between $130,000 and $178,750 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
