The Nurse Director/Manager at Harbor Health plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of site-based and remote care teams. This role combines clinical leadership with administrative and managerial responsibilities, overseeing nursing staff (all disciplines as assigned) and clinical operations to deliver high-quality, member-centric care. The position focuses on driving quality improvement, fostering professional development, and ensuring regulatory compliance, all while supporting Harbor Health’s vision of a fully integrated care system.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership:
Provide clinical guidance and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring safe, evidence-based care delivery. Oversee member care activities and implement clinical policies and procedures to improve care programs such as Chronic Care Management and Remote Patient Monitoring. - Staff Management:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise nursing and lead medical assistant staff. Manage schedules and performance evaluations, promoting a positive work environment and encouraging professional development. - Quality Assurance:
Work closely with the Quality Nurse and Clinical Services Manager to monitor and maintain adherence to quality and safety standards, including infection control, quality measure engagement & gap closure and accreditation requirements. Lead the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance member satisfaction. - Population Health Program Development:
Collaborate with healthcare providers and community organizations to design and implement population health programs that meet the needs of target populations. - Resource Management:
Manage the allocation and utilization of clinical resources, ensuring optimal use. Collaborate with administrative staff to support clinic operations and resource distribution. - Collaboration & Communication:
Facilitate clear communication between clinical teams, administrative staff, and members. Address member concerns and complaints and work with healthcare professionals to optimize member care. - Regulatory Compliance & Emergency Preparedness:
Stay informed on healthcare regulations and ensure staff are trained and prepared for emergencies, maintaining compliance across all operations. - All other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Skills & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- 5+ years of clinical experience in primary care or a similar setting
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience in healthcare
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems, particularly Athena
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards
Additional Skills & Experiences Preferred include:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or related field
- Advanced nursing certifications (e.g., Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist)
- Experience leading population health programs or quality improvement initiatives
- Strong background in infection control, environment of care, and accreditation processes
Physical Requirements of the role include:
- 50% of the time will be in-person at clinics or offices in Austin, TX. Occasional travel to other locations (up to 10%) may be required.
