Scheduling: This team is a critical part of Jobber and central to our entire offering of helping Jobber’s customers (SPs) to help them be successful. At Jobber, we are revolutionizing how to run a home service business - this is particularly true in scheduling. Scheduling for home services businesses is complicated — our customers need to take into account where the client lives so they can build an efficient route, what equipment may be needed on site, when the client can be home and when the crew member is actually available. On top of that, scheduling needs vary highly between customers. With improvements in ML/AI decision models and mapping software, there is a ton of opportunity to reduce scheduling complexity for our customers. Insights & Accounting: This team falls under our Fintech product group, focused on providing enhanced financial insights to our Jobber’s customers (SPs) to help them be successful. Financial health is at the core of any business, and we aim to provide SPs with historical trends as well as in depth financial reporting. This is full-stack role and working with large data and complex queries is a big asset.
The role of Staff Software Engineer at Jobber:
As a technical champion and force multiplier, you lead and mentor teams of exceptional engineers while collaborating closely with Product and Design partners to tackle complex technical challenges. Your expertise spans architecture, design, and hands-on coding, allowing you to have a significant impact on the product and our customers. A portion of your time is allocated to "Staff Dev Projects," which may include cross-team initiatives, work acceleration within your team, exploration of emerging technologies, addressing technical debt, or investing in the future of engineering at Jobber.
Responsibilities Breakdown:
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and iteratively deliver high-impact features that address customer needs
- Partner with Product and Design teams to shape and define the strategic product roadmap
- Identify and lead large-scale initiatives that drive innovation across multiple teams or departments
- Actively participate in code reviews and testing processes to ensure code quality and maintainability
- Champion the development of consistent engineering practices and reusable code solutions to enhance overall efficiency
- Lead and facilitate group discussions to drive consensus on optimal solutions for complex customer problems
- Research, promote, and implement industry best practices within your team's domain, staying at the forefront of technological advancements
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members at all levels, fostering their professional growth and career development
