Turnitin is seeking to hire an Employee Relations and Compliance (ER&C) Regional Partner to join our team, in support of our global organization.
This is an exciting, global opportunity to regionally lead employee relations and compliance efforts in the Americas region. The successful candidate will provide best-in-class HR support and help to extend Turnitin’s inclusive, people-centric culture to support our business strategy.
The ER&C Regional Partner will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for matters related to labor relations and compliance regionally.
What you will do:
- Provide support for all employee-related questions including, but not limited to: harassment, discrimination, wage & hour concerns, terminations, performance management, relocation and immigration
- Conduct and lead investigations related to allegations of harassment, discrimination, wage & hour, and policy violations
- Ability to lead and champion change in a proactive manner aligned to company values
- Identify new, existing, and/or updated regional employment and labor laws, regulations, and enforcement activity
- Engage with People Business Partners (PBPs) and leaders to provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including performance management, progressive discipline, leaves of absences, and investigations
- Ensure all People Business Partners (PBPs) and leaders are trained on current legislation and advanced labor relations techniques while providing advice, guidance, and recommendations for problem resolution to PBPs and leaders
- Investigate and resolve complex / sensitive employee relations issues, interface with Legal, as needed, to recommend and deliver actions
- Identify potential areas of labor compliance vulnerability and risk and propose and help implement solutions to remediate
- Work across the organization to help complete internal HR audits and address compliance opportunities, issues, and gaps
- Support the equal employment opportunity process, including the formulation of proposed actions based on plan results and submissions to governmental entities
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regional health and safety regulations
- Review annually and make recommendations for improvement of the organization’s policies, processes, and practices related to compliance and labor relations matters
- Develop and deliver training pertaining to employment and labor law compliance, engaging legal and learning partners, as needed
- Ensure that regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated via employee handbooks and guidelines within the region
- 8+ years of experience working as an HR generalist or in employee relations or compliance functions required, preferably within a global company , and with at least 3+ years specialist experience conducting complex/sensitive investigations from commencement through to conclusion
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in Business, Human Resources, or a related field required
- Ability to support generalist work as or when needed to add value to overall team and business
- Strong business acumen and proven change management capability
- Experience implementing and managing a centralized issue management system
- Proficient and in depth working knowledge of regional employment laws in US, LATAM and other jurisdictions
- Experience writing or editing company policies and/or handbooks
- Demonstrated ability to spot issues and analyze results of investigations and complaints to determine trends and make recommendations to HR leadership in terms of coaching/training need for HR and management teams to mitigate risk
- Experience improving, measuring and communicating people date specifically related to areas of focus within employee relations
- Strong capability to handle ambiguity and provide solutions in a timely manner to complex employee situations
- Excellent writing and communication skills aligned to ER due diligence requirements
- Demonstrated and strong ability to multitask in a complex remote first environment
- High energy, positive attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trust and credibility across the organization required
- Must possess the highest ethics, integrity and confidentiality standards
The expected annual base salary range for this position is: $80,000/year to $111,000/year. This position is bonus eligible / commission-based. As a Remote-First company, actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if extended, and is determined by work location and a range of other relevant factors, including but not limited to: experience, skills, degrees, licensures, certifications, and other job-related factors. Internal equity, market and organizational factors are also considered.
