We have an immediate vacancy for an experienced in-house Data Privacy and Commercial Contracts Lawyer to join our team.
This is an important role within the organisation and the right candidate will be capable of managing a wide range of legal matters, in Europe, US and Internationally.
- Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA etc.
- Ensure organisational adherence to data protection laws and regulations.
- Advise on data protection issues in the EU & US and work with other key stakeholders in the business in relation to such matters.
- Regularly review and update data protection policies and procedures to reflect changes in laws and regulations.
- Perform the statutory duties of a Data Protection Officer as outlined in the GDPR
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on developments in data protection laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Recommend and implement improvements to data protection processes and controls to enhance compliance and mitigate risks.
- Be responsible for drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and advising on a wide range of customer and supplier contracts including but not limited to: DPAs; master service agreements; NDAs; software licences; support and maintenance agreements; SaaS agreements; service level agreements; consultancy/services agreements; website terms and conditions and privacy statements.
- Support the Revenue team with legal issues that arise on a day-to-day basis as part of the group’s business and operations.
- Be responsible for a wide variety of commercial matters such as bespoke commercial contracts with customers.
- Manage our 3rd party legal supply firm for any specialised legal or data privacy support we may need.
- Work with our Chief Security Officer to develop cross company training and policies to ensure we are maintaining best practice with respect to our overall data security posture.
- At least 3 years of in-house counsel experience.
- Proven experience of working across multiple functions and influencing at all levels in a global organisation.
- Prior experience of managing complex key legal projects from start to finish.
- Ability to assess and evaluate risks against applicable business goals to provide practical legal advice.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent commercial acumen.
- Experience and familiarity with IT/software arrangements, intellectual property, insurance, data protection and employment matters preferred.
- Experience identifying and implementing process changes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and US Data Protection Legislation highly beneficial
The role is part time (20hrs per week) and will be based in Ireland or the UK.
