The Team

We are building an industry leading privacy program that earns the trust of our clients and staff, and we have an exciting opportunity for the right person looking to develop their privacy career in a global tech company.

You will team up with privacy subject matter experts and key internal partners to drive our European privacy program forward with velocity. 

The ideal candidate will be analytical, self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and an effective communicator across multiple teams in the organization. You should be able to spot trends and see the big picture while successfully handling individual tasks that span the wider team. You must be committed to the values of teamwork, integrity, and innovation.

This role will report to the Global Data Privacy Officer (GDPO) as part of our compliance group and will be responsible for lifting our privacy maturity in Europe.

The team is mainly based out of Europe and we are seeking an EEA based specialist, with a preference for hiring in Ireland. The wider privacy team members are mission-driven, curious, inquisitive and willing to take on ownership for a broad range of tasks.

The Opportunity

  • Contribute to the development of Kraken’s European Privacy Program, including driving strategic privacy initiatives and key compliance remediation projects

  • In close collaboration with the Legal team, devise and implement strategy for improved corporate privacy governance and third party compliance in Europe with a particular focus on privacy-by-design requirements and cross-border transfers of personal data

  • Help manage Kraken’s relationship with European data protection authorities, including the Irish Data Protection Commissioner

  • Support our European Data Protection Officer in the fulfilment of their DPO obligations 

  • Support the resolution of privacy incidents and complex European data subjects rights requests 

  • Offer practical privacy advice to our business partners

  • Stay abreast of developments in European data protection and AI regulatory priorities and enforcement trends

  • Develop metrics and dashboards to help scale our compliance program in Europe

  • Maintain our library of privacy impact assessments, records of processing activities, and privacy guidance documentation

  • Deliver ongoing guidance and training to key business partners

  • Track privacy projects from initiation to completion

Skills You Should HODL

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience 

  • Experience supporting a privacy function in a tech or financial services company

  • Experience advising on the GDPR and general knowledge of other key European  regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., MICA, DORA) 

  • Experience creating metrics, dashboards, and project trackers

  • Experience with well-known knowledge base and task tracking tools

  • Experience in optimizing policies and procedures to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR

  • Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely in English

Nice to Have

  • Law degree or computer science degree

  • Experience working with auditors and regulators

  • CIPP/E, CIPM, and / or CIPT certifications
