The ideal candidate will lead a diverse team of academic experts ranging from Lead Learning Designers, Learning Designers, Multi-media and Learning Technologists and will work closely with our University Experience team, Project Managers, Traffic Manager, and General Managers to refine the approach and process Noodle uses to articulate and develop exceptional programs with our university partners.

As the Head of Learning Operations, you will lead Noodle’s global Academic services, and form part of the leadership team at Noodle. This will include but isn’t limited to:
  • Academic leadership: manage the entire Academic operation ensuring Noodle develops courses that exceed our and our partners expectations. 
  • Methodology and systems leadership: build systems to effectively scale custom Academic services for each of our partners.  
  • Team leadership: attract, develop and retain talent in academic learning design, multi-media and L-tech development. This includes building an exceptional culture across the Learning team; defining career tracks that value the development of our teammates; and partnering with our service team leads to put excellence in the forefront of everything we do for our partners. 
  • Team Development: continuously upskill our learning professionals on the latest in great learning design, learning innovations and effective trends; fosters a culture of showcasing great team work product and a critical friend to push our design that much further.
  • Thought Leadership: Help to position Noodle as a thought leader in higher ed through interviews, conference presentations, etc and works with our product and tech teams to push our tech agenda to best support effective learning. 
  • Pricing: understands how long it takes to create assets and works with our Project Management Office and University Partnerships to price our services. 
  • Resource Management: partners with our Project Management Office to identify our talent needs months in advance and ensures we have the right staffing levels to effectively service our university partner needs and ensures the team has the tools they need to do their jobs.
  • Holistic Lens: you will work side by side with the leaders in our SSE, M&E, Placement, and Tech teams to ensure we are showing up well to our university partners and are thinking through how we collectively improve by sharing knowledge and insights across our services.


The ideal candidate will have:
  • 10-15 years of relevant previous experience, including instructional design, teaching or learning roles, management of instructional design teams, and/or projects with multiple learning designers.  
  • Master’s degree preferred and Doctoral degree nice to have; or commensurate experience working with or for higher ed. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, expertise in learning and program design, and fluency in university culture, particularly understanding faculty dynamics.
  • Experience working in the Higher Education industry, online learning with US schools and ideally experience teaching and/or managing faculty.  
  • Expertise in curricular and pedagogical needs and innovations.
  • A “product owner” mindset and willingness to train your team on delving deep into specifics of a program while retaining sight of its broader context; an ability to think like and see with the eyes of the partner.
  • Prior experience in online course development and/or instruction, specifically in virtual settings that use synchronous classes.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, learning science, and principles of effective online pedagogy.
  • Ability to train the team on being a workshop facilitator, and in particular, the teaching the team on how to establish rapport with faculty groups quickly, putting them and their program directors at ease, and helping them feel confident in the course development process.
  • Familiarity with research about student retention and its application to creating high graduation rates.
  • A hunger to learn and grow professionally.
