Department ARD Talent Acquisition & Development About the Department Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) engages alumni (~220k), current students, parents and friends of the University through intellectual, professional and social activities on campus, around the world and online. ARD raises $600 Million annually to support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and students and programs across the University. Job Summary This role works independently to design, implement and monitor a variety of human resource programs. Anticipates and plans for long-term human resource needs and trends in partnership with business management. Responsibilities Partners with financial operations in the development and administration of the HR budget for the department, monitors for variances, and manages employment expenses within established guidelines for ARD staff. Uses Workday, Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools to synthesize data to create and design regular and non-routine reports and charts. Partners and serves as liaison to the Analytics and Technology Solutions team to assess HR technology needs and streamline tools to support data-based decision-making. Analyzes and reports on employee relations trends to inform leadership decisions and improve workplace culture. Builds expertise in University policies and procedures when supporting employee relations matters. Audits, creates, and documents employee job analysis and workflows and ensures alignment with departmental job classifications. Makes recommendations to managers and leadership in developing job descriptions. Facilitates exit interviews. Uses exit interview data to make informed decisions. Creates and maintains a reporting of aggregated data in areas of organizational health, culture, programming, trends, etc., and captures relevant data points to help assess and guide choices in the department holistically. Supports Workday usage for recruiting, time and absence, performance management, other processes, and reporting as needed. Resolves issues related to accruals, time approver assignments, organizational structures, employee information and documents, etc. via Workday. Trains and supports managers and staff in using Workday. Responds to unforeseen and complex problems, makes recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness, and implements changes as needed. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting comply. Ensures accuracy and confidentiality of all data and records and performs duties in accordance with federal and state laws, University human resource services policies and ARD procedures. Participates in the review and determination of best practices in facilitating goals and activities for supporting ARD staff. Contributes ideas in strategic planning sessions. Provides support during annual merit planning (AMP). Partners, guides, and supports leadership and managers during compensation discussions and annual merit planning. Develops and maintains procedures and protocol for talent management to maintain a high level of professionalism in all activities. Partners with People and Culture team as needed regarding staffing updates and ad hoc assignments. Secondary contact for all on- and off-boarding processes for staff, including managing and monitoring the administrative coordination and documentation for internal and external transitions. Seeks opportunities for professional development that will enhance job performance including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within the University and with colleagues at peer institutions. Has a deep understanding of unit's employee/labor relations efforts, including handling grievances, disciplinary warnings, and employee complaints. Counsels employees on benefits and compensation. Coordinates with managers and senior colleagues to determine employee compensation. Analyzes data and prepares charts, graphs, and trend lines for management review with a minimal level of guidance. Develops and administers the HR budget for the department, monitors for variances, and manages employment expenses within established guidelines. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's donor relationship management system and the Microsoft Office Suite. Working Conditions This position has a hybrid work schedule which includes weekly in office presence. Standard office environment.
