Job Description

The Cybersecurity Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Associate Director provides strategic and execution leadership within AbbVie’s Information Security Risk Management (ISRM) organization. This critical leadership role is responsible for transforming the TPRM program to align with and support key business and technical strategies. The Associate Director will drive tactical and strategic improvements in the program, enhance current processes, and consult on strategies to transform the TPRM program. This role and function will focus on program policy, process, KRI/KPI transparency, third party contract management and reverse assessments. Key objectives include ensuring visibility into overall program health, quality assurance, and quality control aligned with the risk-based program methodology and framework to drive down risk to AbbVie.

This position can be virtual anywhere in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, leading complex, innovative, and high-risk initiatives with significant organizational impact across the TPRM program associated with policy, process, and control management.  
  • Develop and implement effective contract management to align redlines to identified risks in the information security evaluation.
  • Leads third party governance, oversight and performance strategy including trending and reporting of KPIs, KRIs, KCIs leveraging transparent intelligence to address complex challenges across the enterprise, including steering committees.
  • Provide vision, leadership, and industry expertise to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability of the TPRM Program.
  • Influence change to include compliance and risk management requirements, including IT GxP, AI, and Crown Jewel standards and principles.
  • Define and develop training curriculum on program techniques, talent and support systems.
  • Develop and execute Quality Assurance and Quality Control program to maintain program and performance sustainability.
  • Act as an advisor to senior leadership on TPRM to internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Develops cross functional relationships with vendor and internal stakeholders, which includes business and procurement teams, and act as an escalation point to promote vendor accountability, remove dependencies, and build standardization.
  • Drive improvements in internal customer satisfaction related to specific vendors and improvements in performance, cost, quality, risk, and performance metrics in all vendors.
  • Project Communication: Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information to Project Team, Division, Cross Division and Executive management. Makes recommendations based on current project status to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 8 years’ experience; PhD with 4 years’ experience.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity and TPRM, with a track record of leading and transforming Third Party Risk Management programs.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry leading practices, emerging risks, and mitigation strategies in the context of third-party relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive strategic initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience managing complex, high-risk projects with significant scope.
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience advising senior leadership on risk management strategies.
  • Demonstration of successful coaching/mentoring and people management.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
