Experian is looking for an experienced attorney with several years of experience working with complex agreements for clients to become part of a team building the Experian Employer Services division that is high-growth. You is your chance to negotiate contracts directly with Experian's business clients, requiring in-depth work with and understanding of agreements for a variety of products and services, with an emphasis on employer services, including verifications, unemployment claims, and tax credits and incentives. The agreements are varied and may include professional services agreements, RFPs, RFQs, NDAs, evaluation agreements, standard terms and conditions, remediation amendments, service level agreements, and master services agreements. As a Sr. Contracts Counsel, you will report to the Commercial Contracts Counsel Director for FSD.
What you'll do
- Negotiate creative solutions that meet Experian's and client's needs while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Coordinate with partners across legal, compliance, finance, sales, and product teams to complete transactions.
- Enforce contracting policies and manage approvals for non-standard terms and pricing.
- Assist sales teams with ongoing contract administration and advise management on risks.
- Provide training to sales and other departments on contract issues and negotiation strategies.
- Facilitate deal execution while minimizing risk to Experian.
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school; bar admission in any state.
- 4+ years of experience, ideally in-house or in a contracts department.
- Comfortable working in a large, sales-driven environment with business, technical teams, and executive leadership.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, including leading client negotiations.
- Direct experience negotiating key contract terms: Liability, Indemnification, Warranties, Termination, Data Security.
- Familiar with aligning contract terms to revenue recognition and accounting rules for software and custom development projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel (complex spreadsheets), PowerPoint, DocuSign, and Adobe (PDFs, Adobe Sign).
Here is what will make us call you:
- Have direct experience creating contract records in Salesforce, Salesforce reporting, and document approvals and deviations within Salesforce.
- Have familiarity with state and federal privacy laws, including the FCRA, GDPR, CCPA, and HIPPA.
Not required, but will definitely give you an edge:
- CIPP certification
