Job Description
Are you an experienced software engineer ready to jump into an exciting role building something new on Wolt’s consumer and payment domains? Do you strive for releasing high-quality code to production? If yes, we might just have the spot for you as we are looking for a Frontend Software Developer to join our Payments Platform team in building world-class payment infrastructure on our web app.
The Payments Platform team owns the end-to-end payment UX, from users choosing a payment on checkout to users switching to external apps for authentications. It’s a cross-functional team of frontend, backend and mobile engineers building product features end-to-end both within the team and in collaboration with other product and engineering teams (e.g. Consumer Web team).
You would be joining a new team with a real opportunity to contribute to the team's roadmap, tech choices, ways of working, and, naturally, be able to build all kinds of cool payments-related, user-facing features that will directly impact Wolt users’ customer experience. Since the team is in its early stages, you would have a real impact developing the Web App’s future, which is quite exciting really! Technical work you’ll drill down into can relate to anything from implementing purchase order designs for checkout to integrating SDKs of new payment methods across our 30 countries.
The Payment Platform Teams implement payment and fraud solutions on Wolt’s checkout, as well as ensure that other quickly growing teams at Wolt can readily use payments based on their needs (i.e. multi-payment, bill-splitting, tipping, top ups, recurring payments, two-factor authentication on demand, etc). As Wolt operates internationally in 30 countries and over 200 cities these teams are in a vital spot for enabling a smooth checkout experience for our 15 million registered customers and ensuring stable, safe and error-proof money flows!
You can be based in our tech hubs located in Stockholm, Helsinki or Tallinn, alternatively we offer fully remote role within Sweden, Finland, Estonia or Germany.

Ownership: We handle the whole development process (business logic, testing, database & data streaming, CI/CD, analytics, cloud) ourselves in an autonomous manner. Don’t worry, we’re not alone: We have support from central teams when we need help.
Technology: We use modern tools and technologies. Current stack in use is React + Typescript, React Testing Library, GitHub Actions, Playwright, Storybook and TanStack React Query.
Autonomy: We make the decisions as a team and group of teams! We are free to choose the technology stack and tools and make architectural decisions together. No top-down decisions!
Creativity: We’re building lots of new stuff with minimal technical debt so you can focus on developing new features.

Our humble expectations
You might be the one we are looking for if you have several years of experience building apps using React & Typescript and delivering modern, testable and maintainable code. Experience in payments or payment integrations would be highly valued but not mandatory. We commit to a user-centric approach and expect to find someone like-minded.
On top of that, we value an attitude of constant improvements and also the ability to create things from scratch. An entrepreneurial mindset of taking ownership of what you've built is a must!

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and DoorDash RSUs. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you’ll own a piece of the pie.
