We’re in growth mode and looking to add a dynamic Senior Software Engineer to our PayNearMe team. This position will report to the Director of Engineering for the Services Team.
As a Sr. Engineer on the Services Team, you will have significant responsibility, owning code that directly moves billions of dollars every month, and helping to shape the future of our software platform.
Job Description
- Producing high-performance, reliable, and secure service implementations in Go
- Supporting, maintaining, and improving existing services in production
- Participating in the design and development of new services and features
- Developing a deep understanding of our business domain and operational processes
- Appropriately managing risk and tradeoffs when introducing change to mission-critical application code
Qualifications
- 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 using the Go programming language
- Strong knowledge of service design principles and supporting operational technologies such as gRPC and Kubernetes
- Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders, both technical and nontechnical
- Comfortable working in a polyglot technical environment alongside Ruby engineers
- Capacity to make practical decisions with good judgment when working within existing codebases or faced with other design constraints
- Commitment to producing well-tested code that prioritizes security considerations
- Willingness to adhere to a rigorous change control process in a highly regulated industry
- Respect and support for team members of all levels and backgrounds, with openness to both teaching and learning
Preferred Experience:
- Payments, fintech applications, or other industry subject to significant regulation
- Domain expertise in the details of payment card and/or ACH processing
- Experience with the Ruby programming language
- Experience with NATS messaging
- Experience with relational databases, particularly Postgres

Salary Range: $175,000 - $200,000
