THE ROLE:

The Director of Learning and Development is responsible for overseeing the strategy, implementation, and management of learning and development programs across the organization. This role ensures that employees at all levels have access to training and development opportunities that enhance their skills, performance, and career growth. The Director will work closely with senior leadership to identify learning needs, develop comprehensive training programs, and measure the impact of learning initiatives on organizational performance goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
    • Assess current training programs and identify gaps to ensure continuous improvement and relevance.
    • Work with external learning vendor to align internal and external development programs.
  • Program Design and Delivery:
    • Design and deliver innovative and effective training programs, workshops, and e-learning courses.
    • Oversee the creation of learning materials, including manuals, guides, and online resources.
  • Leadership Development:
    • Design and implement leadership development programs to prepare high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
    • Provide coaching and mentoring to emerging leaders within the organization.
  • Performance Management:
    • Ensure that learning and development initiatives support the overall performance management strategy.
    • Partner with People Ops. Peers and business leaders to ensure skill development support individual development plans (IDP’s) and team development needs.
  • Evaluation and Measurement:
    • Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of training programs and initiatives.
    • Regularly assess and report on the impact of learning and development activities on employee performance and organizational goals.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the learning and development budget.
    • Ensure efficient use of resources and alignment with financial goals.
  • Team and company Events
    • Design and support the delivery of team and company events so that they support culture and employee connection growth. 
    • Design and delivery events and experiences that recognize and reward employee performance. 
  • Vendor Management:
    • Identify and manage relationships with our external training providers and consultants.
    • Evaluate and select vendors that meet the organization’s learning and development needs.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of learning and development professionals.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in learning and development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful learning and development programs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lead and inspire a team.
    • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Certifications:
    • Relevant certifications such as DDI, EQ, PMP, etc. (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) or SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management - Senior Certified Professional) are a plus.

REPORTS TO:

VP of People Operations

 

COMPENSATION:

$140,000-$155,000 base salary + bonus
