About Omniscient Digital

Omniscient Digital is an organic growth agency helping B2B software companies turn content and SEO into growth channels. We’ve helped build content and SEO programs for companies like Jasper, Adobe, Loom, Order.co, Vendr, Hotjar, and more.

Our work has been featured on websites like HubSpot, Shopify, Intercom, and CXL, and our strategies are used by many of the top content marketing teams around the world.

Our team is 100% remote. Learn about the core values that drive how we work and build a company.

About this role

Omniscient Digital is expanding and we need your editorial prowess to continue providing high-quality, meticulously edited content for our diverse pool of clients.

We’re hiring an editor with technical experience to edit client content (blogs, long-form articles, guides, social media, etc.) for clarity and cleanliness. Most immediately, we’re seeking an editor with knowledge of the infrastructure management software industry (or an adjacent industry).

If you are looking to grow with a small company, execute your stealthy editorial skills with maddening efficiency, and blaze the path into the yet-undiscovered words woods (words woods?), read on.

Your responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Utilize our style guide to ensure editorial consistency across client work

  • Ensure adherence to client brand voice and messaging guidelines, as well as their editorial preferences

  • Edit a variety of content and content types for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and spelling

  • Fact-check quotes, statistics, and link sources to ensure that all technical information is correct

  • Collaborate with fellow technical communicators (writers included) to develop new approaches for creating more precise and engaging content for the company

  • Communicate regularly with the Editorial Lead for a given client on an ongoing basis

  • Do quick turnarounds (24-48 hours, planned)

  • Stringently meet deadlines

Who you are

  • You're experienced in editing technical content. You have 2-3 years of experience editing technical content or software documentation specifically. You've mastered the art of helping writers dig deep enough for advanced audiences but can also help them make complex topics simple when necessary.

  • You have SEO experience. You're familiar with the various considerations related to SEO content and know how to preserve and enhance optimization through your edits (without sacrificing content quality).

  • You have experience with both print and digital media formats. You’re proficient in word processor programs such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs and PDF software such as Adobe Acrobat.

  • You’re meticulous. You're an intellectually curious critical thinker and leave no rock unturned, no modifier dangling.

  • You have excellent time management and organizational skills. You always meet your deadlines—or communicate in advance when you may need a deadline pushed back. You’re process-oriented and try to be as efficient as possible.

  • You’re adaptable. Change is inevitable, and you’re ok with that.

  • You’re great at working independently. You’re comfortable setting and achieving your own goals but always communicate when you need assistance.

  • Positive attitude. You’re kind, passionate, curious, and friendly! You’re open to exploring new ideas, keep updated on trending topics in the infrastructure management software industry, and feel passionately about crafting excellent content. You welcome feedback and love learning how to improve your craft.

Other preferred qualifications

  • Degree in English, creative writing, journalism, or marketing is preferred but not required. You can use your expert-level knowledge to inform your writing, supplemented by thorough research that aligns with our client’s expectations and speaks to their audience.

  • Familiarity with infrastructure management software. You’re familiar with topics like infrastructure and security lifecycle management, compliance standards, cloud computing platforms, orchestration, etc.

Portfolio

A recent portfolio with technical content samples is a must. Please submit 3-5 sample articles that have been published within the past three years for consideration. Older samples will be accepted only if accompanied by newer works.
