This is a full-time, permanent, classified position and is represented by a union. This recruitment may be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill current or future vacancies. What you will do! As the Workforce Support Specialist, you will support the Public Health Division and other Workforce staff in the implementation of Strategic Plan objectives and CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) infrastructure efforts that aim to increase retention and recruitment of historically marginalized populations at PHD. You will assist the People and Professional Supports Manager with supporting grant initiatives that increase productivity, decrease absenteeism and turnover, ultimately providing continuity of services to the communities of Oregonians served within the Public Health Division. You will support the People and Professional Supports Manager, Retention Strategist, Workforce Equity Coordinator and other staff within the Oregon Office of the State Public Health Director (OSPHD) to meet deadlines and strategic goals related to functional planning and organization of retention activities. You will assist with coordination of retention activities including onboarding, mentoring and training program, annual reporting, strategic planning, and planning and executing trainings and events. What we are looking for: Minimum Qualifications: Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis. OR An associate degree in general office occupations AND two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Attributes: Strong computer software skills – Microsoft Excel, Visio, Power Point, Word. Strong technical writing and documentation skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills & ability to prioritize. Strong team building skills. Technology skills to ensure data and highly sensitive information is secure regardless of in-office or remote working conditions. Minute taking, proof reading, verbal communication skills. Experience organizing projects. Experience and competence working with culturally diverse populations. Experience displaying professionalism and courtesy when dealing with the public and department staff. Experience treating co-workers, stakeholders and partners with dignity and respect. Experience creating, promoting, welcoming, and maintaining a culturally competent and diverse work environment. Working Conditions: Position is required to work on-site, in office 4 days a week while onboarding, after onboarding, position will work on-site, in office 1-2 days per week, as needed. The on-site location is located at 800 NE Oregon St, Portland, OR 97232. The work of this role may be conducted remotely with full access to the needed operating systems and technology.
