The Role:

Peerspace is seeking a strategic and dynamic leader for the Engineering function. Reporting to the CEO, this role will lead the entire engineering organization, including software development, infrastructure, and data engineering. The level will be dependent on the experience of the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating in high-growth start-up environments where velocity, adaptability, and a focus on delivering business value are critically important. This person will define Peerspace’s technology strategy and partner with other executives to achieve our near-term and long-term growth objectives.
Engineering is a critical function for Peerpsace and represents nearly one-third of the company’s workforce with approximately 30 remote engineers. A successful leader is able to apply the right approaches to the current needs of the business.
This role will be a member of the executive leadership team and is expected to contribute to overall company strategy and management.
Responsibilities:
● Lead our distributed engineering team and take responsibility for all aspects of technology strategy, software development, infrastructure, security and data
● Develop the strategic direction for the team, hiring plans, and organizational structure
● Develop a high-velocity performance-based culture that rewards initiative, urgency, and value creation
● Mentor and develop engineering leaders that are excellent at cross-functional execution, managing engineers, and making the right pragmatic decisions to deliver results
● Contribute to architecture discussions and key decisions
● Work with the executive team to shape, plan and deliver Peerspace’s top goals
Qualifications:
● Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams that deliver business value through strategy, execution, organizational design, and talent management
● Ability to bridge business and technical strategy and decisions
● Deep understanding of best practices in software development, technology and data infrastructure
Experience operating as an executive and company leader, contribution to overall company strategy & execution and working closely with cross-functional partners
● Experience in leading and developing remote and/or off-shore engineering teams
● Wide experience working closely with Product Management, able to contribute to product strategy, and effectively communicating costs and risks
● Full understanding of the product life cycle
● Experience scaling consumer internet or marketplace businesses is a bonus
The annual salary range for this role is $300,000 to $350,000. The actual salary amount will vary depending on the applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities as well as internal equity and market data.
