JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State is seeking a DevSecOps Integration & Support engineer to join our San Diego office. In this role, you will support node deployment and management for the Depot Integrated Product Team (IPT), including interfacing directly with customers, continuous monitoring, remote patching and baseline update deployment to maintain consistency of installs and preserve cybersecurity posture. As a new member of our team, you’ll work with us to establish an exceptional Node Management & Support team, which is essential to sustaining installed nodes for our customer. You will: Work directly with customers in a technical role Collaborate in planning with customers Produce technical documentation to support maintenance of HW/SW systems Deploy patches and baseline updates to remote sites Maintain and manage nodes remotely Continuous monitoring (ACAS or similar) Structure and maintain databases Advanced service-desk functions, trouble ticket fielding and resolution This job can be filled as an Advanced or Senior level depending on the successful candidate’s education, and experience. Minimally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline; Master’s Degree preferred. 5+ years of related experience. Required: Experience with implementation and understanding of Engineering principles in a professional environment Deep understanding of HW/SW builds, IA hardening and lockdown Experience managing RedHat/Linux systems, writing/maintaining custom scripts Experience configuring routers/switches (Dell OS10 experience is a plus) and dynamic routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Powershell and Python Skilled in Platform management e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, and micro services architecture Excellent knowledge and experience in maintaining, configuring, operating and troubleshooting complex electronic computer interface systems and network equipment IAT Level 1 (CompTIA Security + and OS/Computing Environment certification) A strong understanding of security concepts, best practices and how to apply them, such as Secure Shell, public key encryption, access credentials, certificates, TLS, and data encryption to include Department of Defense and Intelligence Community security policies/processes Ability to represent successful completion of work in Agile Management systems (e.g. Jira, Confluence, GitLab) Operates standard computer-based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel) effectively with a high degree of competency Ability to capture essential procedural instructions for tasks in a manner repeatable by others Top Secret Clearance Preferred: Experience with Palo Alto firewalls Experience with Dell Open Manage Enterprise/Redfish API Experience with distributed systems like Hadoop, HBase/Accumulo, Spark and Kafka Employee will be required to travel in support of distant end installations or break fix actions if they cannot be accomplished remotely. Such travel may be with limited (less than 3 days) notice. Position requires onsite support in a classified environment located in San Diego, CA. Remote work supported only in limited capacity (short duration, NIPR) and with approval of the sponsor.
