JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Office of Budget and Finance is seeking an individual who will report to the Director of Research Accounting and be responsible for executing complex tasks and reports within the University’s ERP system, System for Integrated Management, Budgeting, and Accounting - SIMBA (SAP/S4HANA). The successful candidate will supervise a group of three accountants on the Cash Management Team. Core responsibilities are to monitor, analyze and resolve complex accounting and accounts receivable issues, which may involve dialog with University business areas and external sponsors; develop, recommend and implement procedures to ensure uniform, efficient and effective processes and internal controls; interpret University policy and sponsor requirements to ensure compliance; confer with contract negotiators on contract problems and resolve accordingly; approve check deposits and other banking procedures; complete refunds as necessary. Additionally, the individual may prepare recurring special reports, including system-generated reports and regularly provide information to various federal, state and external agencies; perform reconciliations and make recommendations based on results. Other duties will include gathering data, maintaining various databases and updating process documents. Responsibilities will also include acting as the liaison with assigned key stakeholders, the Office Improvement Team, and management to develop and implement strategies, document procedures, systems and processes that improve procedural efficiency and effectiveness. The supervisor is required to train, support and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. This position minimally requires a Bachelor’s degree plus six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing, strong organizational skills, and proven record of success as a member of a professional team are desirable. Experience and knowledge of financial systems is preferred. This person will routinely be called upon to complete advanced assignments, to communicate information, ideas and instructions and to participate as a team member within a diverse workforce. This is position offers a hybrid work arrangement with up to four days per week being remote. Attendance in the office at least one day per week is required for support of banking functions within the department. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
