The position
This is an exciting time to join Remote and make a personal difference in the global employment space as an International Tax Analyst - Personal Income Tax joining our Tax team.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Law, economics or related areas, preferably with a Post-Graduate or Master's degree in Taxation
- Prior experience and proficiency with personal income tax compliance (including withholding taxes on payroll), with at least 3 years of aggregate experience, with a consultancy background being considered a plus
- Prior experience in a startup also considered as a plus
- You have proven advisory and compliance experience across personal income tax and employment taxes, both local and cross-border (as well as with tax treaties)
- You have strong analytical skills and a high attention to detail
- You keep track of recent updates in tax topics that are relevant for personal tax compliance (e.g. EESC Programme Taxation of cross-border teleworkers)
- You possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with different stakeholders
- Writes and speaks fluent English. Other languages are considered a plus
- Thrives in a fast-pace and hyper-scaling environment
- Tech-savvy
- Independent and hands-on
- Experience in working remotely, in particular async working
Key responsibilities
- Responsible for the Statutory payments in Canada and other related tax obligations.
- Report to the (Senior) International Tax Manager and assist in the control of personal income tax compliance tasks (e.g. application for Special Tax Regimes, client queries around taxes, Employment-related tax tasks, equity, etc.) for all of Remote’s clients worldwide
- To a smaller extent, work with tax advisors to prepare and submit opinions related to personal income tax or payroll obligations
- Support the team in payroll tax audits and inspections worldwide
- Monitor changes in tax law in several jurisdictions (EMEA, APAC, North America, Central and South America)

At first glance our salary bands seem quite wide - here is some context. At Remote we have international operations and a globally distributed workforce. We use geo ranges to consider geographic pay differentials as part of our global compensation strategy to remain competitive in various markets while we hiring globally.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $25,100 to $70,650. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location, and our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay for the successful candidate in this role is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range may be subject to change.
