Spotify Advertising is the business unit within Spotify that focuses on connecting brands to billions of fans around the world. The newly formed Creative Lab, Spotify’s first in-house creative agency, is responsible for building brand experiences that demonstrate the creative, cultural, and contextual potential of Spotify that fans love. We work collaboratively with brands and agencies to inspire, create, and scale creativity with Spotify-first thinking.


Spotify Advertising’s Creative Lab is seeking a seasoned Creative Strategist to join our awarded and tenured creative strategy team dedicated to inspiring the best ideas centered around Spotify through proactive and reactive pitching, co-creating and building with our biggest brands, creators, and advertisers today. We are storytellers who are obsessed with how ideas can be brought to life through the superpowers of our platform, and we are looking for someone to champion this culture and elevate our work.


The right candidate will work directly with our dedicated internal creative strategy and operations team, as well as sales to support sell-through and execution handoff of sold programs including on-platform media, content sponsorships, integrated solutions, custom API executions, and live event extensions as part of our advertising slate for our biggest clients and brands, working with internal and external partners and hand-off to our vendors and project managers.


This position will require experience working directly with sales teams, clients and agencies, as well as our internal teams including but not limited to: music marketing, business operations, accounting/finance, legal, production and more. A deep understanding of the creative strategy process across multiple mediums, the ability to drive productivity amidst ambiguity, and uphold the brand cachet of Spotify while incorporating and balancing the needs of a brand is essential.


Spotify is a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and this position will require skills such as autonomous project management, deep client-facing experience, passionate and proactive problem-solving, excitement by cross-functional work, and delivering a high volume of multi-faceted projects on time and to brief.


This role is US based and will report directly into the Head of Creative Strategy, Americas.

What You'll Do
  • Work cross functionally to build effective unique and creative opportunities that communicate the Spotify-first strategy.
  • Operate as a creative strategy expert and own the strategy of proposals and projects, uniting music and podcast solutions across audience segments, brand building tactics, and content.
  • Transform brand briefs into laser focused goals, research, rationale, strategies and tactics for each proposal infused with excellent writing aligned with the brief and creative concepts.
  • Navigate through the push and pull between client needs and creative dreams, acting as the problem-solving bridge between revenue and creative.
  • Define and continually refine Spotify’s value proposition as it relates to product recommendations with the goal of elevating the conversation with clients and connecting their KPIs to Spotify products.
  • Develop compelling programs that are thoughtful, effective, and clear with a focus on highlighting Spotify’s vision for partnership that results in client success.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner within the Spotify organization, bringing together cross functional teams from Creative, Sales, Channel Development, and Content with the objective of enhancing client ready work.
  • Drive and participate in the creative ideation process on RFP requests through collaborative brainstorms.
  • Develop and maintain a library of marketing materials, collateral, assets, and performance tracking data.
  • Efficiently multitask under pressure, while taking the unexpected in stride
  • Meet and manage campaign deadlines in an effective, organized manner
  • Seek out feedback regularly on work to enhance future output and surface relevant incremental opportunities that drive revenue and innovation.
  • Find opportunities to refine and optimize workflows across teams as needed to guarantee a seamless client experience


Who You Are
  • 8+ years of experience in creative strategy, sales marketing, digital media/advertising at a platform, publisher, or agency.
  • Proven track record of supporting sales teams in a marketing capacity.
  • Intuitive, empathetic communicator who can understand the priorities of all collaborators and navigate multiple perspectives to drive projects forward
  • A solid understanding of the digital media space, a background in brand storytelling and strategic responses.
  • Experience working with high-caliber clients, translating their needs to creative teams and vice versa
  • Proficiency in Google Suite products, design and project management software
  • Expert copywriting and communication skills, with experience crafting compelling, succinct ideas and selling points to external audiences.
  • A passionate storyteller, you can see the big picture but aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into docs and ask questions.
  • Creative thinker and inventive wordsmith
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative culture, embracing change and effectively implementing feedback
  • A connector with the ability to bring people together towards shared goals, work with experts in various departments while also contributing your own ideas to the table.
  • Strong project management skills; you are no stranger to spreadsheets, to-do lists, or deadlines.
  • A skilled multitasker, who is not only able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, but is also able to prioritize and support the overall deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
  • A natural problem-solver that is able to navigate roadblocks and prides yourself on being solution-oriented.

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the EST time zone as long as we have a work location.

The United States base range for this position is $116,941 to $167,059, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
