The Supercritical mission
Supercritical provides radical transparency in price, availability, and quality with our marketplace, helping the largest companies in the world to secure top-tier CDR credits quickly and confidently. With live pricing across multiple pathways and deep vetting to the highest standards, we simplify procurement and reduce risk in a nascent, complex, ever-changing market. Forward-thinking companies like The Economist Group, Virgin Atlantic, and Rothschild & Co trust Supercritical to meet their demand for high-quality carbon removal for immediate climate action today, not decades from now. We’re backed by the likes of Lightspeed Venture Partners, who led our $13M Series A, to accelerate our mission to scale carbon removal to gigatonnes.
Why is carbon removal critical?
Carbon removal includes nature-based solutions like afforestation and cutting-edge technologies that literally pull carbon from the sky and store it underground for millennia. Our team of climate scientists act as an outsourced carbon removal procurement partner to our customers. They source and vet carbon removal projects from the frontier of science with a rigorous method that covers 100s of dimensions across environmental, market, and delivery risk categories.
We need to scale to remove 10 billion tons a year by 2050 to stay below 1.5 degrees of warming. This is over 14,000x the rate we are removing carbon at today. We've only removed a few thousand tonnes to date. This will be a trillion dollar industry by 2050.
About the Marketing team
Reporting into the Director of Marketing, you’ll join an existing team comprising a Content Marketing Manager and a Growth Marketing Manager. One year ago, marketing had never existed at Supercritical. After a year of execution and experimentation, we’re doubling down on the programs we know drive awareness, engagement, and revenue. Content is critical to that. Joining our small yet experienced team means you’ll directly impact what Marketing at Supercritical looks like and how the world gets to net zero by 2050.
The role
At Supercritical, you'll be our in-house storyteller and strategic content architect. You’ll transform complex market trends, technical data, and emerging carbon removal innovations into authoritative, accessible narratives that engage senior executives, technical buyers, and industry experts. Working closely with our Content Marketing Manager and cross-functional teams, you'll produce long-form analytical pieces—from whitepapers and data reports to thought leadership articles and executive ghostwriting—and multi-channel copy. Your work will drive our content strategy, shape industry conversations, and position Supercritical as a leader in carbon removal.
What you’ll be doing
- Produce authoritative, well-researched, long-form content—whitepapers, reports, technical datasheets, and ghostwritten pieces—that distils complex data and insights on carbon removal technologies, market trends, and macroeconomic factors into compelling narratives. We want our audience to ping our content to each other in Slack, email it to their bosses, and share it on social with their thoughts.
- Develop engaging, multi-channel copy for blog posts, emails, case studies, landing pages, and ads when needed.
- Identify and develop unique story angles in partnership with the Content Marketing Manager that showcase Supercritical’s product and market leadership. Contribute to content strategy, prioritize the content calendar, and refine briefs.
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and external thought leaders to uncover new ideas, ensure content accuracy and depth, and build your knowledge. This includes working with our in-house climate scientists, CEO, supply team, and market participants.
- Edit and refine content from freelancers and team members, maintaining impeccable quality and consistency while coaching them to become better communicators.
- Contribute strategic insights to shape our overall content strategy, distinct brand voice, and day-to-day content tone.
- Stay abreast of evolving market, regulatory, and technological developments in climate to bring timely insights to the team and inform your work.
Who you are
You’re an exceptional writer with an analytical mind and an ownership mentality. You thrive on diving into technical complexity—from macroeconomic trends and market data to emerging carbon removal technologies—and transforming it into clear, compelling, and actionable content. You move fast, work autonomously, and naturally build deep, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. With a proven track record of producing high-caliber content for senior executives, technical buyers, and industry experts, you don’t just respond to briefs—you proactively uncover the most compelling stories that elevate our brand.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
- Have a minimum of 8 years of writing experience in journalism, technical writing, or content marketing—ideally in carbon, energy, or technology.
- Can demonstrate a proven track record of producing data-driven, high-calibre content such as whitepapers, analytical reports, and thought leadership pieces.
- Possess exceptional research skills and the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling narratives.
- Have experience collaborating directly with senior executives, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams.
- Thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, adept at managing multiple projects and adapting to shifting priorities.
- Exhibit superior copy editing and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excel at creating multi-channel content, from long-form analytical pieces to engaging digital and marketing copy.
- Embrace an ownership mentality, demonstrating proactive, self-driven initiative and a motivation to participate in a fledgling carbon market.
Our values
We have set ourselves the mission of leading the carbon removal market to 14,000x its current size by 2050. In order to do that we need brave adventurers that think huge and deliver at speed. We call this the 14,000x mindset. The key components of the 14,000x mindset are:
- 🙋 Ownership mentality: We relish autonomy and we create it for others. We are deeply curious and thrive on understanding the root cause of complex problems. We take ownership over our own and our team’s development by giving and soliciting direct and actionable feedback.
- 🏎️ Move fast: We identify the most important problems to solve and cut everything else. We test ideas early so we don’t waste time on dead ends. We default to action and deliver awesome results.
- ☀️ Radiate positive energy: We come to problems with energy and passion. We nurture new ideas and engage positively in testing them. We inspire our colleagues to go further and are resilient to set backs. We recharge by taking time off. We are here for a great day, not a long day.
- 📣 Communicate proactively: We communicate simply and directly. We broadcast updates, insights and lessons learnt, especially when things haven’t gone to plan. We give as much context as possible so our teammates can make great decisions.
