About the job
This position is needed to lead a team of engineers within the Engage Premier group, that powers the future of customer engagement. Twilio Engage combines Segment, SendGrid, and Twilio into a single product, enabling marketers to create omnichannel, hyper-personalized experiences at every step of the customer engagement lifecycle. If you are technically adept and also passionate about development of highly technical teams focused on high scale, large technology and infrastructure challenges, and engineering productivity, this is the role for you!
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Build and lead a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ownership.
- Institute development best practices to ensure the team produces high quality, well-architected and supportable code.
- Own, operate and maintain your team’s service. Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency and team performance.
- Lead the team in establishing and participating in an on-call rotation to ensure timely response to production incidents and system outages. Facilitate collaborative and blameless postmortems for production incidents, focusing on root cause analysis, learning opportunities, and actionable improvement plans.
- Partner with stakeholders to define the technical roadmap, align engineering efforts with business goals, and make informed technology decisions.
- Communicate effectively across all levels, both technical and non-technical, ensuring clear understanding and alignment. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Write performance evaluations, collaborate with employees on their objectives and provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans.

Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Engineering Management with a track record in building and sustaining high-performance teams.
- 6+ years of overall software engineering experience developing highly scalable, fault tolerant distributed systems and microservices.
- Proficiency in programming languages like NodeJS and Go, developing RESTful services and a practical experience with cloud platforms like AWS.
- Stellar communication, organization and management skills with proven track record in an agile environment.
- Passion for building innovative and user-centric software solutions. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience.
Desired:
- Prior experience working with Node.js and knowledge of modern front-end technologies such as React, Typescript or equivalent frameworks is a plus
- Experience in developing RESTful APIs.
- Experience in building and operationalizing software solutions following compliance, privacy and security standards
- Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization.
Location
This role will be remotely based in India.
Travel
