We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join Umpqua Health’s team. This role will be integral to the development and optimization of software solutions that enhance our healthcare operations and improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong healthcare industry experience, expertise in data management, and a deep understanding of software development life cycles within a healthcare setting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-performance software systems that support Umpqua Health's mission of delivering superior healthcare services.
\n- Design, develop, and maintain software applications and services for healthcare data management and reporting systems.
- Collaborate with the Data Solutions team to ensure software applications are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Integrate software solutions with healthcare databases and systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR).
- Conduct software performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and provide innovative solutions for system improvements.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, architecture design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly those related to healthcare software systems and data solutions.
- Ensure that software solutions adhere to healthcare privacy and security regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, providing technical support as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to help drive our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in the healthcare industry.
- Proven experience with healthcare data systems, including knowledge of HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare data standards.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
- Expertise in database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, etc.) and cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture.
- Solid understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare data security standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
