The Role
As Managing Editor, you’ll be responsible for:
- Managing and leading the freelance writing team: Owning all processes for freelancers working on client projects, including hiring, onboarding, training, budgeting, and providing consistent and detailed feedback to writers on each piece.

Managing team workflow and content volume: Balancing the writing team's content workload to ensure sustainable content production, meet deadlines, and manage urgent requests efficiently.

Reviewing and editing 30+ articles per month: Making necessary revisions for readability and engagement, editing for grammatical, stylistic, and factual accuracy, adhering to each client's brand voice and guidelines, and optimising for SEO.

Increasing writer efficiency through process management: Empowering the writers to work efficiently, develop processes to support that optimisation, and ongoing training.

Client communication as-needed: Occasional regular communication with clients to refine content needs and preferences, discuss content strategies and updates, and address feedback and revisions promptly.
What Success Looks Like in 90 Days:
- You will establish a quality metric and scoring system to measure content on clearly defined quality standards and report weekly on content velocity
- You will execute developmental editing across the entire content pipeline, ensuring that all content is edited and delivered on time without pushing back deadlines.
The Person
- You are very passionate about making world-class content that drives commercial results.
- You have experience driving results on search engines using content marketing (agency side or in-house)
- You have experience creating content for e-commerce brands will give you brownie points
- You have experience managing content teams including building systems and processes to deliver outcomes
- You have a good understanding of how content drives results in SEO (will need a working knowledge of SEO tools like Ahrefs and Surfer SEO)
- You have demonstrable ability to deliver very high-quality content assets
- You have a high level of developmental editorial experience
- You are able to occasionally overlap with EST timezone
