Role Overview
They are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Staff Accountant. This role involves managing a portfolio of clients, performing full-cycle accounting duties, and delivering high-quality service. Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting tasks, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), month-end close, and financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheet).
- Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with Canadian sales taxes (GST/HST).
- Reconcile accounts, complete bank reconciliations by the 10th of each month, and maintain accurate financial data.
- Communicate with clients to set expectations, provide updates, and manage deadlines effectively.
- Collaborate internally via Microsoft Teams and participate in weekly team meetings to discuss client needs and project progress.
- Utilize various accounting software, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, and NetSuite, tailored to client requirements.
- Employ project management tools (Financial Sense, Keeper) to track tasks and ensure timely completion.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, with experience in Canadian accounting practices, preferably including GST and HST.
- Proficiency with accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, and NetSuite; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on proactive updates and issue escalation.
- Detail-oriented, with effective time management skills and the ability to work backwards from deadlines.
- Comfortable working remotely, with at least 4-6 hours of overlap in PST.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA designation is highly desirable.
- Experience in industries such as technology, marketing, professional services, or e-commerce.
