The role of a UX Designer at Canonical

Our multi-disciplinary web design and production team includes visual designers, UX designers, front-end and back-end developers to bring exciting web projects to life. This role sits in the design team reporting toto the one of the Infrastructure and Developer Experience UX design managers.
Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.
What will your day look like

Our design team works in a multi-disciplinary environment with visual designers, UX designers, front-end and back-end engineers to bring exciting projects to life. We help and learn from each other and constantly strive to improve our work and processes.
As a UX Designer for Infrastructure and Developer Experience, you will work with the exceptional engineering teams at Canonical and have a vital role in improving what we deliver to the success of Ubuntu, our partners, customers and the larger Ubuntu community. We build tools that enable everyone to build their own cloud experiences (MAAS, LXD, MicroCloud and Canonical k8s), and we put together the Developer Experience on your Ubuntu Desktop. Your job is to make sure we implement industry best practices, and push the limits of what is possible.
Clear, stylish presentation that aids the user experience of our products is how we raise the bar and reach the widest audience. Real content and information will be at the core of the designs you produce. You know the ins and outs of typography, colour and layout, and you care deeply about usability, accessibility and web standards. You should have agency, company or freelance design experience.

- Excellent academic results at school and university
- Bachelor’s or equivalent in User Experience, Design, or STEM
- Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement - curious, flexible, scientific
- Drive to finish work and celebrate success
- Confidence in user research practices
- Engagement with the latest design research and innovation
UX designers should be excellent communicators who are at ease working with a complex mix of engineers, designers and executives. They represent us at cross-functional company meetings and must present their design position with clarity and precision. They should be confident and excited to take on complex design challenges. They should also be able to connect their design leadership to the strategic vision of the company.

Your base pay will depend on various factors including your geographical location, level of experience, knowledge and skills.
