What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Developing a self-service platform from the ground up to empower our engineering teams to work more efficiently
- Designing and developing tools, libraries and services that support Canva engineers in building secure software
- Evaluating new and emerging security technologies, features, and products that make it easier to reliably build secure software
- The discovery and triage of vulnerabilities across Canva’s threat landscape
- Mentoring and supporting the growth of your colleagues in your areas of expertise
You're probably a match if
- You are proficient and happy to code in one or more modern program languages (Golang, Python or Java preferred. This team uses Golang)
- You have experience working with engineering teams to audit and remediate issues within the DevOps ecosystem (e.g. Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Infrastructure as Code)
- You have experience building and deploying tooling in support of containerized workloads
- You have strong experience with secure cloud architecture patterns in AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- You have hands-on experience with engineering and deployment of containerization platforms, including management of K8s, EKS, Docker and similar technologies
- You have hands-on experience with CICD platforms, including Buildkite, ArgoCD, or similar
- You have hands-on experience with Auditing
- You have a proven understanding of Secrets Management platforms as well as Secrets Management Patterns in Containerized Environments
- You have a proven understanding of identity and authorization standards like OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML
- You have experience leading projects end-to-end whilst balancing requirements from multiple partners, and mentoring Security Engineers
Desired but not required
- Subject-matter expertise of Amazon Web Services and associated technologies and products within the AWS ecosystem, especially IAM and security-specific services
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g Terraform)
- Knowledge of and experience improving CI systems and Static Analysis
About the team
You'll be joining the Supply Chain team whose mission is to provide secure, hermetic and coherent management of the engineering supply chain across all environments and all Canva languages and technologies. The Supply Chain team work closely with product engineering teams to understand their needs and build solutions to best meet them. Their current work includes developing the technology and workflows for supplying Canva Engineers with secure and regularly updated container images and software artifact distribution and management through our internal artifact repository.
This team falls under The Developer Platform Group and owns the coding life cycle at Canva – from ideas through to production. Our mission is “To forge a delightful ecosystem for engineers at Canva, amplifying their craft and enabling them to ship fast and correct.
