The Opportunity
Come join the legal team at Flock! We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced attorney who is passionate about partnership agreements, corporate, compliance, contracts, and enthusiastic about technology and its potential to drive safety in our communities. This role will partner with various teams internally with particular focus on partnering and strategy initiatives of the company, and acting as the legal team’s lead advisor for all partnership and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a team player that is comfortable bouncing ideas off of their peers and supporting a fast growing remote-first start-up company while making decisions that will guide, solve and push for our collective success. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be comfortable, in addition to providing guidance and reviewing commercial agreements and providing counsel.
This position reports to the General Counsel.
Provide support as a member of the Legal team, and in particular to the Strategy team, by providing guidance across the full range of initiatives the Strategy team is pursuing, including support and review of agreements, delivering legal strategies and providing legal counsel and guidance.
Assist the General Counsel in developing and implementing compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, as well as providing guidance and support to internal teams on various compliance issues as they arise.
Assist with corporate matters
Advise business clients and colleagues, on legal issues and risks, approval processes, and company policies and procedures.
Prepare commercial agreements (MSAs, Vendor agreements, Licensing, etc.) with a knowledge of a customer’s needs and ability to fulfill its requirements.
Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with company policies and any applicable federal and state regulations.
Clearly explain contract terminology to internal teams, customers and other interested parties in simple, everyday language.
Proofread, edit, and fact-check legal documents for accuracy and consistency.
Track and maintain key terms/non-standard requests in a standardized manner (e.g., tracking in a CRM).
You are collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business and work with individuals throughout the company.
As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will not only move information into the 21st century, but move information law forward as well.
The Skillset
10+ years of total experience supporting commercial transactions with a focus on partnership and growth initiatives
2+ years of in-house experience
Strong understanding of corporate law and regulatory compliance
Experience with internal compliance matters including overseeing the company’s compliance initiatives (OSHA and other state/federal compliance applicable to the company)
Experience negotiating, drafting, and advising clients on technology-related commercial contracts, Cloud, or SaaS representing an enterprise business
Experience with legal negotiation with government entities, private companies, and customers on contract terms and provisions
Experience and comfort working with Slack, Salesforce, Docusign and other cloud-based software tools
Partner with internal teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes
Identify and analyze legal issues, help determine business terms and structure transactions, and provide advice to colleagues that balances business objectives and legal risk
Ability to identify, analyze, and suggest solutions for problems and customer complaints/concerns
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an impeccable mastery of the English language
Clear adherence to company policies and procurement rules and regulations
Good organization skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced startup environment
Knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in-person and in written form, that considers cultural norms and the client's best interests
Willingness to work virtually or in a remote-first company
A good sense of humor and the ability to take on whatever comes your way is definitely a plus
Juris Doctor and membership in good standing
90 Days at Flock

This serves as a preview of the 90 day plan you will receive if you were to be hired as Associate General Counsel at Flock Safety.
The First 30 Days
Build relationships with the General Counsel, as well as the Legal Team, the Strategy Team and cross-functional stakeholders.
Analyze and become familiar with all required compliance matters for Flock including researching issues and meeting with internal stakeholders
Become familiar with Flock - learn our OKRs, company history, roadmap, culture, product suite and more.
The First 60 Days
Create new process(es) and templates, as needed, for initiatives being pursued by the Strategy team.
Create and implement a compliance playbook/plan regarding Flock’s adherence to compliance matters
Become familiar with the terms and provisions within Flock’s core contracts.
90 Days & Beyond
Own the entire process of working with the Strategy team
Own all aspects of the compliance playbook/strategy
Take ownership of any specific projects or initiatives identified during the first 90 days

The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.

💰Salary & Equity: In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $190,000-$250,000 as well as stock options
