Gathern is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable, high-performance, and reliable backend systems that power our innovative software products.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, and data scientists, to understand business requirements and translate them into well-designed and efficient backend solutions. You will be involved in the entire development lifecycle, from architecture and coding to testing and deployment.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in backend development, with experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, working with databases, and ensuring the security and integrity of data. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop efficient solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
- Optimize and tune backend systems for maximum performance and scalability
- Ensure the security and integrity of data by implementing proper authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Perform code reviews, provide feedback, and mentor junior engineers
- Participate in the entire development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend development
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python,Kotlin)
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of RESTful API design principles and best practices
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and deployment frameworks (e.g., AWS, Docker)
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
