INTECON, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Scientist/Analyst to support AFWERX Research, Technology, and Data Analysis efforts. This role is responsible for data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling to provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and technology integration. The candidate will work closely with AFWERX leadership, technology managers, and data analysts to develop data-driven solutions for technology commercialization, venture funding analysis, and innovation forecasting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Data Scientist/Analyst will:
Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights, trends, and recommendations supporting AFWERX programs and innovation strategies.Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven insights for technology investment forecasting and risk analysis.Perform quantitative and qualitative research to support venture funding, private capital investment, and technology commercialization initiatives.Utilize Python, R, and SQL to clean, transform, and manipulate data from structured and unstructured sources.Design data pipelines and ETL processes for effective data collection, integration, and storage.Create interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to communicate key insights.Develop predictive analytics models to support SBIR/STTR program assessments, private sector engagement, and technology transition strategies.Collaborate with government stakeholders, business analysts, and technology managers to align data insights with program objectives.Translate complex data findings into concise, actionable reports tailored for executive leadership and decision-makers.Ensure data governance, security, and compliance with DoD and AFWERX policies.Stay up to date with emerging technologies in AI, data science, and analytics to enhance AFWERX’s innovation capabilities.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics in a government, defense, or technology-driven organization.Expertise in data analysis, database management, and statistical modeling techniques.Strong programming skills in Python, R, SQL, and other data analytics languages.Experience in machine learning, predictive analytics, and AI-driven decision-making models.Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.Hands-on experience with big data technologies, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), and ETL processes.Ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.Strong knowledge of data governance, cybersecurity principles, and DoD data policies.Familiarity with AFWERX, SBIR/STTR programs, and defense technology transition processes is a plus.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.
