Position Summary
As our new senior accountant you will be responsible for the preparation of SEC and other financial regulatory filings, including Form 10-Q, 10-K and selected 8-Ks as well as documentation of technical accounting matters. Responsibilities include participation in the monthly close process, preparation of cash flow, equity rollforwards, stock compensation accounting, preparation of technical accounting memos, preparation of journal entries, accounting calculation and account reconciliations. In addition, you will review journal entries and account reconciliations performed by others and be expected to stay apprised of new accounting guidance. In this role you will work across the team to streamline processes and spearhead an environment of continuous improvement, initiate and support cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency or effectiveness of the department (working with HR, treasury, tax, FP&A and operations to ensure accuracy and completeness in accounting and related financial reporting disclosures). There will be close coordination and collaboration with internal and external auditors to fulfill audit requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, bridges, roll-forwards, journal entries, supporting schedules, ad hoc analyses, and regular ongoing management reports
- Assist with cash forecasting, debt compliance, and other treasury related tasks
- Maintain compliance with policies and procedures, SOX controls, and US GAAP (develop and update SOX controls as necessary)
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close responsibilities to meet due dates
- Support the team with preparing and filing SEC reporting documents using Workiva
- Assist with process improvements and implement best practices to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and controls
- Assist with the development and implementation of new policies and procedures and enhancements to existing policies and procedures as necessary including the development of an accounting manual
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external auditors and fulfill audit document requests
Experience & Personal Attributes We’re Looking For:
- BA in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant work experience
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to monitor and interpret US GAAP and SEC guidance
- Drive required changes to SEC financial reports and other regulatory filings
- Effective communication skills - written and oral
- Ability to collect, organize and analyze data
- Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and lessons in numeric results
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Exceptional prioritization skills, and the flexibility to pivot and adjust to surprise developments
- Ability to thrive in an ever-evolving work environment
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects/plans simultaneously
- A careful, conscientious, meticulous approach to your work
- Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast preferred but not required)
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI)
