Title: Senior Financial Accountant

In this role, you will be crucial in managing and maintaining the financial integrity of our organization. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data through regular updates and data entry into our accounting software, as well as generating reports to support financial decision-making. You will handle all bookkeeping tasks, including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end and year-end closings, while ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
You will partner with our accountant to manage tax compliance, including filing returns, providing guidance on tax matters, and coordinating tax audits. Additionally, you will support financial audits by organizing necessary documentation and serving as the primary contact for auditors. Working closely with the Senior Finance Manager, you will assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, and contribute to process improvements within the finance department. Your efforts will directly impact the accuracy of our financial reporting and support the overall success of our organization.
Job Description:
As a Senior Financial Accountant at Prompt, you will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department by managing various financial and administrative tasks. You will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to ensure the smooth operation of our internal financial processes, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Data Management:
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by performing regular data entry and updates to our accounting software.
Help maintain the company’s financial transactions and customer information.
Generate reports and analyze data to support financial decision-making.
2. Bookkeeping:
Handle all bookkeeping tasks, including recording daily transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial records.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
3. Accounts Payable
Own the accounts payable inbox and validate all invoices being paid via the companies accounts
Partner with Department Heads regarding their spend on software, vendors, supplies, etc.
Ensure all vendors are up to date and fully paid.
4. Tax Compliance:
Partner with our accountant to file tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all deadlines.
Provide guidance to Sr Finance Manager on tax-related matters and ensure that all tax practices adhere to current legal requirements. Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
Coordinate and provide documentation for tax audits, addressing inquiries and resolving issues that arise. Implement internal controls and procedures to support accurate and transparent tax reporting.
5. Financial Audit Support:
Compile and organize all necessary financial documents, records, and reports to ensure they are complete and readily accessible for auditors.
Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, facilitating their requests for information, answering queries, and providing necessary explanations to support the audit process.
Partner with the Senior Finance Manager to review audit findings and recommendations, and work with relevant departments to address any issues or discrepancies identified.
Light travel is required to Headquarters to support the annual audit.
6. Assisting the Senior Finance Manager:
Provide administrative support to the Senior Finance Manager in various financial tasks and ad hoc projects.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts by providing requested information.
Participate in internal audits and contribute to process improvements within the finance department.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
5+ years of experience in an accounting role or commensurate with experience
Demonstrated understanding of G.A.A.P., financial statements, tax compliance, etc.
Working understanding of QuickBooks or related accounting software
Proficiency with bookkeeping tasks such as journal entries, reconciliations, chargebacks, financial statement preparation, etc.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Suite skills
Strong analytical, quantitative, attention to detail and organizational skills
Developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels including CFO
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Looking to pursue CPA certification or MBA in Accounting
Experience in managing or leading financial projects, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Experience working in hybrid situations
