Job Title Senior Software Engineer 1, Finance Affiliate Job Description About Your Role: Dotdash Meredith is looking for an experienced front-end technologist, with a demonstrated track record of innovative thinking, technical mastery, and peer guidance. You will work in a collaborative Agile environment to support, expand, and enhance the financial product and service recommendations on Investopedia.com. About your contributions: Prototype and develop responsive and elegant cross-platform functionality on a custom server-side component framework, built on Java but leveraging SCSS, Freemarker templates, and ES6 on the front-end, with VueJS used for more interactive components. Play a primary role in designing and constructing major application components Ensure high standards of quality by participating in code reviews, advocating for best practices within your team and without, and helping drive the identification and prioritization of technical debt. Monitor your applications’ web performance metrics and UX best practices to ensure they meet Dotdash Meredith’s high standards, and investigate issues that arise. Work directly with the designers, QA, and product owner in a dedicated scrum team to fully realize the product vision. Participate in a well-oiled 2-week sprint agile system to continuously add new features & functionality to the business. About you: 5+ years of experience in Web Development with a focus on HTML, CSS and vanilla Javascript (ES6+); experience with one or more other languages. Experience with Java and/or VueJS is also an asset, but not required. Significant experience with at least one server-side MPA templating language - think JSP, Nuxt.js, Astro, ASP.NET, or WordPress PHP templating. Proven track record of working with 3rd party APIs and integrating them into web applications. Comfortable using the tools of modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc. Ideally, you’ll also have a meticulous eye for design and rigorously check your own work for quality and precision, even before QA and stakeholder review. Willingness to learn new technologies and grow as a developer. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field or foreign equivalent preferred. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith’s total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
