About the job
As a Platform Engineer on the Infrastructure Security team at Segment, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of our cloud-native infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain security solutions that protect our systems and data against evolving threats. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge security program within a dynamic and rapidly growing organization.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls and configurations for Segment's cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and maintain secure perimeter access solutions to control and monitor external and internal access to Segment's systems.
- Manage and enhance identity and access management solutions and controls to ensure least privilege access across all environments.
- Lead the design and implementation of robust secrets management solutions to securely store, access, and rotate sensitive credentials and API keys across the infrastructure.
- Champion the adoption of security-focused "shift left" practices within the development lifecycle, advocating for early integration of security considerations into code development and deployment processes.
- Contribute to security awareness and training initiatives to foster a culture of security across the organization.

Required:
- 2+ years experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
- Proven experience in working in the devops space designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions, preferably within a cloud-based SaaS environment.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Proficiency in IaC, Kubernetes, and AWS concepts, best practices, and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex security issues.
- Participate in team on-call rotations.
- Solid problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, and ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
Desired:
- Solid understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP stack, and security principles.
- Experience with CloudCustodian, Orca, Anchor, and related security tools.
Location
This role will be remote and based in India. Travel will be rare but should be anticipated.
