About the job
This position is needed to manage a diverse team of engineers across the US and EMEA who are modernizing the way we Test & Validate our Twilio Flex product. We exist to ensure the quality of the Twilio Flex product and deliver sustainable value for our customers. We do this by partnering with the engineering teams in delivering high quality, resilient services, reducing the testing overhead through a standard set of managed frameworks and test practices, and surfacing transparent and insightful data. We hold the bar for our customers when it comes to the quality of the Twilio Flex product.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Provide support and guidance that empowers the team to self-organize and to achieve sustained high velocity and predictability in delivering software changes.
- Partner with cross functional teams to define common goals and priorities
- Contribute to technical deep dives and right size the engineering investment across initiatives and enhancements
- Define and drive a technical roadmap to meet quarterly KR
- Manage employee career development by providing coaching and mentoring to engineers while guiding them to maximize their potential. Provide continuous performance feedback, collaborate with employees on their goals and provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans.
- Identify and drive areas of improvement within our team practices
- Foster an inclusive environment and imports team members to succeed and grow
- Bring your unique perspective that challenges the team to think about resiliency, operability, and scalability
- Enhance automation test framework for better traceability, more actionable analysis and smarter decisions
- Develop ability to measure and report on software health and release quality

Required:
- 7+ years of experience in engineering, ideally in Quality Engineering
- 2+ years of hands-on experience leading and managing teams of 5-10 people.
- Enthusiasm & Passion for implementing highly automated quality engineering processes & practices through modern and widely accepted approaches
- Technical competence and experience with the cloud, DevOPS, test framework and automation, Infrastructure as Code, APIs, enterprise software, and full stack technologies.
- Previous engineering management or technical leadership experience in building and mentoring a team.
- A history of working with highly scalable distributed systems with a focus on operational excellence.
- Ability to intelligently prioritize a technical roadmap with a focus on delivering incremental customer value.
- Experience in agile processes and best practices.
- A strategic thinker that thrives when operating in broad scope, from conception through continuous operation of 24x7 services
- Distill complex and ambiguous situations into actionable plans for your team
Desired:
- Previous operational experience in complex distributed systems, including experience towards high-availability and reliability goals
- A Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
Location
This role will be remote and based in the US, but is not eligible to be hired in New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

- The estimated pay range for this role, is $164,480.00 - $205,600.00
- Non-Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state. This role is also eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
