About the Role
A creative publishing company is seeking a talented and imaginative writer to help develop a suite of personalised children’s books. This collection will launch with approximately 10 books, covering themes such as family values, life milestones, inclusivity, and diversity. The target age group varies from 1 to 10 years old, with younger books focusing more on family-oriented content. Each book will allow children to personalise elements, such as character appearance and text, creating a unique reading experience for each child.
The writer will be responsible for workshopping ideas with the creative team and transforming them into beautifully written stories with word counts between 300-800 words, depending on the age group. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful children's literature.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the creative team to brainstorm and workshop ideas for a suite of 10+ personalised children’s books.
- Write engaging, age-appropriate stories that cover themes of family, milestones, inclusivity, and diversity, tailored to children aged 1-10 years.
- Ensure each story allows for personalisation, including character appearance and customised text elements, while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative.
- Proven experience in writing for children, preferably with a portfolio of published children’s books or related content.
- Strong storytelling skills with a passion for creating engaging, inclusive, and diverse narratives for children.
- Ability to write in a variety of tones and styles to suit different age groups, from simple, family-oriented stories for toddlers to more complex themes for older children.
