World Business Lenders (WBL) provides general purpose short-term real estate collateralized commercial loans to a broad customer base comprised of small and medium sized businesses throughout the United States that lack access to traditional funding.
WBL is a U.S.-based company with a 100% remote workforce.
This is a remote Contract/Consultant position. Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements. The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language. Resumes must be submitted in English.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice, guidance and support in connection with corporate transactions.
- Structure, negotiate and memorialize debt and equity financings.
- Prepare and review agreements with business partners.
- Maintain a best practices corporate governance environment and protocol.
- Coordinate and oversee an effective U.S. compliance environment and protocol that is in line with current industry best practices, and legal and regulatory guidance and requirements.
- Ensure all required internal and regulatory reporting is conducted in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.
- Develop and implement cost effective compliance related solutions.
- Develop and maintain relevant policies and procedures, including reports to executive management, the Board of Managers and business partners.
- Establish and administer relevant training programs.
- Recruit, train, supervise, manage and develop in-house attorneys and staff.
- Select, communicate with and manage outside counsel.
- Manage legal expenses.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
- Law degree; from a nationally accredited U.S. law school preferred.
- 15+ years’ legal and compliance experience, preferably in financial services/real estate throughout the U.S.
- Demonstrated experience with and working knowledge of U.S. federal and state commercial lending laws, rules and regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and verbal).
- Excellent organizational, communication (both written and verbal) and technology skills.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, manage and develop attorneys and staff
- Strong legal research, document drafting and writing skills.
- Superior analytical skills.
- Excellent business judgment, as well as practical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously, while establishing and maintaining effective work relationships both internally and externally.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful with excellent follow-through skills.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office and Adobe applications.
